As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of My Day...Sunday October 15

1. Woke up to Daewoo chewing on my hair. This unruly child is going to make me bald!
2. Watched the second movie I rented yesterday. This movie was my pick ("28 Days") and boy was it better than Ryan's movie ("One Night Stand"). Mind you I must note that he never did officially recommend it.
3. Had a total lazy day and so lunch and dinner consisted of what ever combination of convinced store food I could think of.
4. Nearly killed myself busting a move in the shower to Britney Spears' "Toxic" song. I'm sure Daewoo got a good laugh though.
5. I think Daewoo's been watching the "Magic Channel" too much. Took him on a walk but he refused to walk so I dropped the leash and walked away. Stood around the corner waiting for him and there he came running towards me with no harness and no leash!
6. Did some web surfing today and found some really interesting 2005 statistics.

  • World Hunger - 6,907,406 human beings have died so far this year from hunger.
  • Food For Thought - 7,559,888,149 pounds of food have been wasted so far this year in the US.
  • Do the math, and you'll find that we could have given 1,095 lbs. of the wasted food to each of the almost seven million who died from hunger. I wonder how many lives would have been saved.
  • War In Iraq-Afghanistan - 68,552,250,856 dollars have been spent so far this year on Emergency Supplemental Appropriations in the US.
  • NASA Budget - 11,911,557,017 dollars spent so far this year.
  • Federal Budget Cuts -26,790,736 dollars have been cut in grants to childrenÂ’s hospitals so far this year.
  • Our leaders have no problem spending $80 billion for the war and NASA while at the same time cutting almost $27 million that would have gone to help fund some programs at children's hospitals. I hope you see some logic to this thinking, because I don't.
  • US Oil Consumption - 201,971,682,648 gallons of oil used this year in America
  • Drink From The Sink - 291,548,443,366 glasses of tap water have been consumed so far this year in the US.
  • Bottled Water Trade Off - 7,765,437,188 plastic water bottles have ended up as either garbage or litter so far this year in the US.
7. Tried to find any statistics on how much kimchi Korean consume in a year but no luck so I came up with my own figures.
  • The average serving size I eat ranges between 50 - 60 grams.
  • I eat kimchi 6 days a week but sometimes I have it 2x a day so this has to be considered.
  • I've been here for 8 months.
  • Therefore I estimate I've eaten about 32 pounds of kimchi!!!
  • Therefore I've eaten 1/4th my weight in kimchi!!!

If you think this is bad, I should try to figure out how much rice I've consumed! It's in my kimbop, soup, bimbop, ice cream, and among the many other foods it's in it's also in my soap!

8. Went to sit down and plan my Monday lessons only to realize that I left all my stuff at school. So much for starting at it early. Had to call my director and so let's see what time he calls me back.
9. Waited and waited for Mr. Lee to return to the school so I could get my teaching books. Finally got to sit down and write my lessons. Now I'm ready.
10. Am convinced Daewoo is mentally unstable and lacking in some connections up top. Caught him eating used newspaper.... newspaper used by him. It was his toilett paper". He's got issues.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Can one person really change the world?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Koreans eating a meal without kimchi is like a person trying to walk with no legs. --Anonymouss

Holy cow Amy - that's a ton of kimchi you are eating girl.
You are what you eat! Watch out. You're going to turn into whatever kimchi is -- big smelly!
