As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, February 16

1. How ironic... on this day, exactly two years ago, I was leaving Canada to venture to Korea for my first time. Now here I am leaving again, but I will be back. I've had an awesome trip and I know I have many friends and family to thank for that. I guess I really didn't realize how much I love Toronto and the life I had here until I left and then came back into the scene. It's going to be so hard to leave you all again. I've been dreading this day since the day I arrived. I am eager to start my new job in Korea cause I know it's going to be an awesome experience but I can't help but want to be with my friends in Toronto. I miss Toronto a lot and miss all the things I use to do and could do...

I want to get back into the ring with Egerton

go hardcore with boxing again
have more long nights with my Bloor Boys
train again at System Fitness with the big boys

eat at a breakfast restaurant without having to take a subway to get there
be a better aunt to my niece
I want to be here to celebrate when Andi becomes a mommy
see what becomes of the village
be a better friend to my friends here and see them more than once a year
I want more of Colin's cooking
learn more dance moves from Jeffery
friends dropping by
silly jokes with the Pollack
see just how sweet Kobe is
spend hours on the boardwalk
venture to more beautiful restaurants with Graeme and Madi

drink more Tim Horton's coffee
scream my head off at a Rapture's game
run into more random people I know
ride my BMX
Shakespeare in the park

cruise around in Jimmy's truck
Hockey nights in Canada
runs through High Park
hear more English (you laugh but it's true)
eat more of my mom's cookies
sit in on more life's lessons from my dad.

My life in Korea is SO different than here in Canada. I will miss you all... you have NO idea!!!

2. No sooner had I put my make-up on in the morning but then I cried it all off. Saying good-bye to Kobe really sucked and I was so embarrassed when I walked into a house full of sleeping beauties. Apparently my friend had had a party last night and so there were sleeping bodies everywhere. I couldn't see cause of my teary eyes and cause it was dark, so I ended up accidentally stepping on some people. Oops.
3. My parents picked me up in Toronto and off we headed to Pearson International Airport. Just our luck, we showed up early and then were informed that my flight had been delayed for another hour and a half. Had to change my connecting flight.
4. With extra time to kill, I was able to get in one last cup of Tim Horton's coffee. I will miss you Timmy!!! Starbucks in Korea just doesn't cut it!
5. Flight was delayed for another hour cause they didn't have a plane available for us. A plane from Vancouver came in and so they pushed us on, loaded up with fuel and then took off. I wasn't really comfortable with them rushing though... are we going to crash?! I was sure I'd have to change my connecting flight again and so I wasn't impressed, no one was. Word of the wise... don't go with Air Canada if you want to arrive on time!
6. Finally, I boarded the plane. My sitting partner to Japan was a super cute Japanese woman who's English was pretty good but who's knowledge of Toronto was quite impressive. We sat there drinking Japanese tea and munching on my mom's to-die-for mocha cookie balls. Mom, two thumbs up from my sitting partner. She loved them!
7. While my Japanese sitting partner slept, I wiggled around in my seat, eagerly desperate to fall asleep. It seemed no matter what I did, I just couldn't fall asleep. Apparently I wasn't the only one. Ended up changing seats for a bit and sitting with this Korean dude who had brought a mini DVD player on the flight.
8. After hours of restless sitting on that crowded plane and flying way above the clouds, we came across this totally remote village. For hours I hadn't seen anything but clouds and mountains and then this cluster of lights. It was awesome... how do I get there?
9. Despite Air Canada disorganization, messing around with the flight schedule, and cheap nasty meals, I will say that their flight attendants are awesome! On my flight home I ended up having one of the same flight attendants I had when I was traveling to Canada, some weeks ago. He remembered little about me but remembered the fact that I drank way too much milk on the plane... ha, ha, ha. Yup, I'm a milk monster.
10. Oh my gosh... my feet totally swelled up while we were in the air and so I couldn't put my shoes on. They swelled up like a balloon and so it felt so strange. I had a good time joking around about it with some of the flight attendants. One attendant offered to rub them but wow, I couldn't do it. Even I don't touch my feet... ha, ha, ha.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Are we there yet?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would I'd never leave.
