As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Wednesday, February 28

1. Ryan and I headed back to the Korean Consulate to pick up our work visas… sweet. Amused each other by sitting there for over an hour and “creatively” commenting on the other foreigners, particularly the dudes. See Ryan, now you know why I don’t date foreign men in Korea. After about an hour of just chewing out the dudes, it was clear he got my point. I think the only dude I found particularly interesting was gay, go figure.
2. Ventured back to the ferry terminal and tried to change my ticket for a ferry today… no luck. Ran into Bobby there and so I said good-bye to both Bobby and Ryan.
3. With no place to go and a whole day to kill until my ferry leaves tomorrow morning, I decided to jump on a bus and go hunting for somewhere to sleep tonight. Ryan had told me about these “capsule” hotels where you sleep in a kind of bed, similar to a tanning booth bed. I thought it’d be fun, a bit claustrophobic, but nonetheless interesting. Instead however, I stumbled across a hostel… perfect!

4. The hostel was four floors of foreigners. It was super clean and I didn’t have to dish out much money cause I agreed to share a room with three other girls. Met this cool chic, Jane. She’s got this super sweet job. She writes textbooks for the hagwan she use to teach at and so she gets to work at home and on her own schedule! Wow… and here I thought I was spoiled!!!
5. Met some dudes from my neck of the woods in Canada. One was from Ajax and the other was from Oshawa (both those cities neighbour my hometown). Way to represent Durham Region!!! Wow. Just goes to show you, this world isn’t so big afterall!

6. Went in search of some shopping and ended up totally getting lost. It was cool though. I walked around for about 6 hours and found some pretty cool shops. Let’s see, there was the cool pet store jam-packed with puppies, many of which were walking around outside the cages. There were the thrift stores with the 80’s theme, that was fun. Most shops were totally expensive though and so I didn’t really do anything more than window shopping and playing with the puppies.
7. Did end up buying stuff after all. At the pet store I bought this food dish for Mi Nam. I think it’s suppose to read “I love dogs” or “I love my dog”, instead, it read “I love dog”… don’t they eat cats in Japan though?! Ha, ha, ha.
8. Have a new little sidekick… when I first saw her I thought she was so cute. Rumour has it she was too short to be one of Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku girls, and so now she’s my Harajuku girl.. ha, ha, ha. Mind ya, she’s lik2 inches tall, has her clothes glued onto her body and has a metal clip coming out of her head. Ok, ok.. you got me. She’s a doll. I guess after seeing my “sister” Jane with her “daughters”, I thought I’d get me a little one too.. ha, ha, ha.
9. Finally arrived back at the hostel where I was then bombarded with so many foreigners. The place was packed. I sat down with some of them until it was just a bit too much for me and so then I jumped online and chatted with some much missed people ;)
10. Out of all the people I met at the hostel, the most interesting was this Japanese guy. I can’t remember his name for the life of me though, hmmm… Anyway, I strayed away from the foreign crowd to talk to him in the hallway. We sat down and chatted. When I told him I was a professor he started to bow to me, it was so cute. He was super cool, super nice and super tall, wow. Turns out I’m 5 days older than him, cool.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Anyone know a good Korean restaurant here [in Japan]?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon'.
