As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, June 29

1. Oh gosh... is it that obvious that "flying solo" is my style?! I know I'm quite the homebody and much rather stay at home with Mi Nam as oppose to fighting the downtown crowd and meeting up with people. But today, while I was sitting at my MUCH loved Kimbab Nala, the fruit truck man spotted me. He came in, walked right up to me and asked me why I always ate here alone. My response, "That's my style".

2. Considering the obvious fact that Koreans are communal people, I'm sure they think I'm strange for always doing things on my own. Mind ya, now that I have Hannah, she's kind of like my partner in crime and so that's cool.

3. One of the things that I love about Korean people and really respect is how family is such a priority and how they really are communal people. Families eat together, live together, stay together, and many even work together. Well, around the corner from my house is a cute little corner convince store. It's run by one family... father, mother, son and daughter. On most days there's at least two family members there. Usually the father is chilling out on the patio set with his buddies and the son's girlfriend usually hangs around when the son is working.

4. I've made enough visits to this particular convince store to know who's who and every time I go, they ask me some random question. First it was, "Where are you from?" followed by "What is your job?" and (the ever so classic Korean question) "Do you like kimchi?"... hehehe.

5. Hit the gym tonight with Hannah. She did her own thing while I worked on chest. I worked up quite a sweat on the treadmill but I still refuse to shower at the gym. I'm not cool with people looking at my body, even if we're all girls and they could care less; I care. I've only showered once at my gym and it almost sent me home in tears. I mean, they shower together and one lady offered to scrub my back with her sponge cause I didn't have one.... oh gosh.

6. How awesome is Buff Boy... seriously!!! He agreed to come by my building tonight to help me with my Korean studies. Now I realize his English is very limited but I wanted him to read to me and help me with my pronunciation. Mind ya, not only did he show up like 30 minutes early, he also showed up with milk and wafers,... and looked super cute to boot... hehehe.

7. We sat in my building's courtyard but then low and behold, who should show up but the Sambu Hyun Bin! I instantly hid behind my textbook. Buff Boy could tell something was up and so he asked me why the reaction. I told him the deal with the Sambu Hyun Bin and how he's the local gangster eye candy... hehehe. I have no intentions for him though, he's just that... eye candy and nothing more.

8. Studying with Buff Boy tonight was a lot of fun and I really did appreciate his help, even if it was hard for me to focus... hehehe. He's a really great guy and I was quite impressed with how encouraging he was. Turns out Buff Boy can read English perfectly and so under all the Korean sentences I wrote the English translations for him.... hmm... this possibility could be the perfect way for him and I to learn each other's language, cool.

9. As we stood for the elevator after finishing studying, Buff Boy turned to me and, in a most serious face, he asked me if I thought he was handsome like the Sambu Hyun Bin. I said no and then told him that he was a cute guy. At first he looked disappointed. He told me guys don't like to be called cute and so I told him that I don't like handsome guys, I like cute guys. It's true. As much as I go on about the Sambu Hyun Bin, he's not my type. There's something about a hot guy that I don't trust. Now a cute guy with pudgy, squeezable cheeks and is a bit bigger, that's my type.

10. Chatted on MSN with my homeboy Iain from Whitby... aka "Boy Toy". I'm always amazed at how positive and energetic he is, I mean, sometimes I think he's got the whole weight of the world on his shoulders and is juggling way too much, but he always does it all with a smile on his face. He use to have this massive dog that looked like a pony, it was awesome... me trying to walk it, now that's a different story. Anyways, we got into a discussion about relationships. He had been single for two years but now has a girlfriend he adores; that's awesome. I, on the other hand, am always bouncing in and out of relationships... or so he says. Well, I wouldn't call them relationships, more like just casual dating. I'm so done with it though and so I think I'll take his advice and just stay single. I mean, I'm not out there looking but what's been coming my way hasn't really impressed me. I figure I've got Mi Nam and that's enough love for me right now. His love is simple and unconditional and as silly as it sounds to talk about my puppy's love for me, I honestly don't think some dude can give me such simple love. My life is beautifully simple, I'd like to keep it that way instead of complicating it with the drama and politics of a relationship. I'd love to have a simple guy... a simple successful guy with pudgy cheeks, awesome manners, cheesy jokes, a laugh that's contagious, mini love handles and a smile that stretches from ear to ear.... but I don't have him and that's perfectly fine with me. If he's all he's cracked up to be, he'll be worth the wait. I can wait.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
How come even dumb girls have boyfriends?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
I'm one not half of two.
