As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Saturday, June 2

1. Ok, so I admit it... I've been quite the procrastinator but today I definitely got down to business and became quite the geek, quite the workaholic. I woke up late but after getting in my morning dose of caffeine, I sat down and started to attack the pile of work I had created for myself.

2. First on my list was to work on my email to my students. Every week I email all 200 students and send them a kind of weekly update. Last week I had slaved over a practice exam I made and then sent them, so today I slaved over the practice exam answer PowerPoint file.

3. Next on my list was my teaching professional portfolio. The university requires us to hand in one at the end of the term. Apparently this is a new thing though and so no one really knows what to put in it. I suppose this is a good thing in that they can't exactly compare ours to last year's teachers. We're the ones setting the bar, so to speak. However, it means that it's up to my mind as to what I put in it. I'm determined to blow them away with mine though and that's the competitive workaholic side of me. So today I spent a HUGE chunk of my day working on it. It's only suppose to based on the first semester teaching at the university but I figure that with all my stuff (lesson plans, handouts, exam info), it'll be around 200 pages! Yikes!!!

4. Made a very useful discovery today and I should have known better too considering Mi Nam's got these massive rador ears that are like bigger than his head... turns out Mi Nam hates whistling!!! I found this out tonight while I was slaving away at the computer. Some man outside my door walked by and Mi Nam sprung up from his sleep like he was being shot out of a canon. He rushed to the door all frantic and barking! I didn't know what the heck was going on. I've had Mi Nam for about 5 months now and I've only heard him bark only a couple of times.

5. So I tested it out... I gave him some food, went into the other room and then whistled. He immediately came. Wow!!! Mi Nam has NEVER stopped for anything when he's eating. Hmm... this is very useful!

6. In my attempt to hibernate in my house and avoid reasons why to go outside, around 6pm hunger hit me like a mofo and so I scrambled to put something together to eat. No luck. I attempted to make a phone order to a delivery service but after an hour of waiting, I figured either they didn't understand or the chicken I ordered ran away.

7. Gave up waiting for the chicken, I guess it just wasn't meant to be... hehehe. Resorted to eating crackers and jam (jail food). I was ALMOST tempted to crack open my last pack of Kraft Dinner mac & cheese but I fought off the temptation to do so... saving that for a special occasion... hehehe.

8. Ok, so my day was super boring but wait, it got even more boring. The highlight of my day was discovering how effective Mi Nam responds to whistling and so what does that tell ya?! Hehehe. I was suppose to go out to Songtan tonight to see a buddy who's leaving Korea soon but, cause I was in total workaholic-mode, I canceled and instead worked my brain to the grind!!!

9. Took a brief break to talk to my dear Maria and her Korean friend, James. Got James to translate some things into Korean for me (student email) and chatted it up with Maria. Maria is moving out to Korea early next year and so she joked around about bringing me some Western goodies I've been missing. Hmm... I've pretty much have forgotten or replaced various Western cravings with Korean food or whatnot, but it got me thinking. If I could have all the things I once so missed, what would I have???
