As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Monday, July 16

1. Word of the day: corruption... hehehe. The other day Yoon Jae said something to me. Now, I know it was said as a joke BUT they say 50% of what you joke about is true. Anyways, I woke up today with what he said weighing on my mind...

2. Met up with Giggle Girl. Last week she and her family went to Hong Kong, not to go see the sights but instead to go indulge in the 30% discount SHOPPING FESTIVAL... hehehe. As if her family needed yet another reason why to spend their loads upon loads of cash... hehehe.

3. Oh my gosh... I totally forgot about Giggle Girl's birthday... I'm a terrible older sister!!! I tried to make up by promising to throw her a mini party next week. However, what do you get a child that has everything under the sun?!.... the sun?!

4. Someone had the great idea to buy Giggle Girl this massive monster of a bug! I think it was some kind of beetle. Regardless, it was huge!!! Her mom is scared of it but I guess it's better than that Venus fly trap that someone gave her. I remember visiting her and having to join in on a "bug hunt". The plant needed to eat and so Giggle Girl thought she'd help it by making us hunt down bugs to feed it... nasty!

5. Spent some serious time with Mi Nam working on his manners. With it being summer, I've been home way too much and I think he's getting a bit spoiled. He's super good for me when I am home but lately, whenever I step out of the house for a few minutes, he seems to have a fit and shreds up his bathroom papers. So, I return home and there's newspaper in a million and one pieces. Anyways, I've been trying to focus on his manners. His commands to date include the following:

a. come here
b. it's ok to eat
c. sit
d. go to sleep
e. walk
f. kiss me
g. no

I should note here that the only English word he knows is "walk". I try to only talk to him in Korean and so all his other commands are in Korean... hehehe.

6. Had a good laugh at some random neighbour of mine who thought he'd show off and impress me with his English. I was sitting in the courtyard when this Korean dude entered and tried to call over Mi Nam, in English. Mi Nam just looked at him, tilted his head and then ran in the opposite direction. Had this dude only tried once, is one thing but he continued to call out different commands to Mi Nam in English. Needless to say, the dude was kind of embarrassed when I called to Mi Nam in Korean and Mi Nam responded immediately.... good boy.

7. Well, my hair is FINALLY back to feeling like hair, as oppose to the sick straw-like texture it was sporting last week. My puffy perma hair is actually starting to grow on me. I think it looks quite cute in a pony tail... hehehe. But yes, it is definitely high-maintenance hair... what was I ever thinking?!

8. Was an inch away from totally clipping the taxi driver across the head... wow! He had picked me up from Giggle Girl's house and I had asked him to drive me to Mr. Top Notch's office. He kept on asking me questions and kept asking me why I'd be going there so late. I was busy texting a friend and so I guess he got kind of annoyed when I didn't answer his million questions. At the stop light, he turned to me and flat out asked me, "Booking?" Oh my gosh... basically he just accused me of being a prostitute going to a "customer". I was shocked and so, with so much to say but not really knowing what exactly to say, I leaned forward, squeezed his shoulder as hard as I could and said (in Korean) "Be careful old man!"

9. As if watching the latest "Harry Potter" movie wasn't brutal enough the first time, tonight I got dragged out to see it AGAIN!!! Mr. Top Notch had called me out to go watch a movie with him. He had asked me what movies I saw lately and even asked me specifically if I've seen "Harry Potter". I guess his English listening skills need some more work. Anyways, I tried to make the most of it. I tried to act surprised at various parts but I couldn't help but do the whole "I bet this is going to happen next..." He was impressed with my one prediction, that obviously wasn't a prediction... hehehe.

10. Came home fairly late and then called up Yoon Jae. Indulged him with a couple of my ghetto club stories. I'm sure he thinks I'm kind of gangster now... hehehe. Hope I didn't scare him too much.
