1. I’ve never been an artsy person but I do enjoy the arts, especially when it’s sitting in my class… hehehe. Wow. I am convinced the most beautiful student is in my Tuesday 1:20pm class and he officially goes by the name of “Beautiful P” among my coworkers. The way I look at it I have no intentions of anything beyond enjoying the site of one of God’s great master pieces and so it’s all good. Hehehe….
2. Because of Chusok next week, I only work 2 days next week... sweet! It’s all good. This Chusok holiday I’ll be down south in Busan visiting Seo. Today I got my KTX ticket and so it’s official… I’m outta here on Friday!!!
3. Some of my students approached me today to say they saw me on TV... cool. (Sunday boxing on ESPN and MBC)
4. My Tuesday and Friday classes are way up on the fifth floor in a classroom tucket in the far corner. At first I cringed at the thought of trekking it all the way up there and the fact that it’s got ghetto chalkboards as oppose to the nice white boards every other room has. But, this room is definitely growing on me.
5. My training has gone into full gear… hardcore. Usually I box in the morning, weight train at night, and eat chicken all day. This means I’m at the gym about 2 1/2 - 3 hours a day, 5 days a week… ouch. Today I woke up late and so I hit the gym late. I went at 10pm. Mr. Stress Man from the boxing party was there… oh gosh. Junior Mint thought it was funny that I eagerly tried to ignore him but that dude seriously stresses me out. I know, I know… being a foreigner means having to deal with numerous random people trying to speak English to me but you know what, I can’t stand it sometimes.
6. I don’t go to the boxing gym to make friends. I don’t want to have friends there cause I don’t want it to become a kind of hang-out. I take my boxing very serious and I want it to stay that way. Tonight Milk Dud tried to convince me to give some girl my phone number, so we can be friends. She wasn’t so eager to be my friend but Milk Dud thought it was a good idea. I gave her Mi Nam’s vet’s number. Don’t ask me why I’ve memorized it but I did… hehehe.
7. Met up with Hannah and then the two of us met up with Bond Soon and Jae Min. Jae Min had started the “party” long before us and so he wasn’t doing too good. Now I like Jae Min, I really do. He’s the first Korean friend I made in Korea and so as retarded as he may get sometimes, I am reminded of the fact that he’s been good to me. He’s always been a friend to me.
8. Tonight I wasn’t such a good friend to him. Somewhere along the way he picked up various English swear words and so tonight he thought it funny to practice them… on ME! I wasn’t impressed. It was funny at first cause he screwed up the pronunciation but I don’t deal well with people swearing at me. I think it’s flat out rude. Anyway, I ended up getting mad at him and telling him off in Korean. I tried to explain to him that there were three women here at the table and so he should watch his tongue; be a gentleman. Finally I got up to leave. I threw down some money but then he grabbed my wrist. I was fuming by then cause he thought it was funny. I told him I’d count to 5 and if he didn’t let go of me I’d punch him. At 4 he let go and by 5 I was out the door.
9. Jae Min killed my phone battery by phoning me but I was in no mood to talk to him. I just didn't want to argue tonight. It's been a long week and my body is so sore from training. I texted him, telling him to call me tomorrow. Tomorrow I’ll be ok but tonight I wasn’t.
10. Hannah and I went off to recover the rest of the night. We headed off to Khan and later on Hannah’s new boyfriend met up with us. He was this super skinny tall dude… very cute but really not my style at all. The guy has absolutely NO butt!!! I’m still curious as to how that’s physically possible… hehehe.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What are you doing for Chusok?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Strong reasons make strong actions.
-- William Shakespeare
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

The better question: What am I NOT doing for Chusok? Answer: Spending three insanely boring days with the relatives washing an endless stream of dishes.
I hated Korean holidays.
I think it's funny that you gave that girl Mi-nam's vet's number. I used to meet people on the street and they would inevitably ask for my phone number so I'd give them random numbers. I felt a little guilty, but just a little.
