As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Tuesday, October 2

1. Happy Anniversary to me and my eyes!!! It was exactly a year ago today that I got lasik eye surgery here in my much loved city of Cheonan. Thanks to Doctor Na and his beautiful assistants for giving me a new outlook on life, literally.

2. My computer officially has been taken over by someone or something.. I’m convinced of this. In the morning I turned it on, like usual, but then some woman’s voice all of a sudden blasted on the speakers. She was speaking Korean and so I had no idea what she was saying. All I know is that I had only logged into the computer and hadn’t clicked on anything… spooky. Even after I pulled the Internet connection, she continued talking… hmmm… who is this lady living in my computer?! Hehehe…

3. Did the old alt-ctrl-del trick and the lady stopped. The computer restarted and the lady was gone. Did a virus check to clean up my computer… 30 ugly virsuses, one of which I’m sure was the lady. Bye-bye.

4. My Tuesday classes are always a lot of fun. My first class is a level 1 class and so it’s a lot of fun and easy to teach cause I taught the same course last year. After class some of my students stuck around and I entertained them with some of my YouTube videos. They loved them… hehehe.

5. Turns out some of my students from today’s class saw Seo and I on the weekend and so by the time I arrived to class, the news had traveled around the classroom like wildfire. The girls all giggled and the boys thought it was pretty cool that my boyfriend is Korean.

6. After classes I ran into some of my last semester students at the school’s taxi line. There were about 7 of them and so we all giggling and chatting. Turns out they too were heading downtown and so they did “rock-paper-scissors” to see who’d get to be in my taxi. They were so cute. I ended up treating them to a free taxi ride, which really isn’t a lot of money, but they were so grateful.

7. Headed off to Hongik for weight training where I was greeted by my friends Newbie, Joo Wan and the older man who told my coworker Amy that he’s my uncle… hehehe. Newbie and Joo Wan made me promise me I’d come to Hongik on Saturday to tell them about my Friday fight and so I agreed but added that I hope to come sporting a super tough black eye. After all, there’s no point having a super intense fight if you got nothing to prove for it… hehehe. I want a cool “war wound”… hehehe.

8. Lately I’ve been feeling like a hyena… hehehe. Seriously, it’s true. I’ve been busting my butt off trying to lower my weight and so I’ve been really watching what I eat. I really want to be a flyweight (112lbs/ 50.8kg) instead of a super bantamweight (122lbs/ 55.3kg) that I am now. Now keeping in mind that between flyweight and super bantamweight, there’s two other weight classes and so the classifying of boxers into classes is super sensitive!!! Today I weighted myself, 53.5kgs (118lbs)… cool, or so I thought. I raced into the boxing club all happy. Junior Mint didn’t share my excitement… we have a problem. He’s listed me as a super bantamweight for Friday which means now I’m TOO LIGHT and so I have to put on a bit of weight. His solution: “Amy eat” as he hands me a bag of bread loaded with cream filling… oh gosh!!!

9. Had a wicked training tonight at boxing!!! Even with numerous dudes lining the ring to watch me train with Junior Mint in the ring, I was totally on my game! My punches were hard and fast, and tonight Junior Mint and I worked really hard on my right hook… that’s my official new signature move.

10. Had my first official argument with Seo… and it sucked but it was about something important. Sometimes it takes couples to argue once in awhile to really understand each other. I mean, Seo and I have been an official couple now for 11 days but we talked for about a month or so before actually becoming a couple and in that time, we've never argueed. Tonight's arguement really opened my mind to things... Seo does really care about me, as I do him. He was so passionate about what he was arguing about and I really found that awesome. The subject we argued about was quite serious and so it wasn't fun, but to hear him get so worked up about my situation really gave me a new perspective about our relationship. He's a really great boyfriend to me and tonight I really felt his true mind.... wow.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Where do you draw the line between teacher and student?
