As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, November 1

1. Ahhh... goodbye dear October, my favorite month. With the entrance of November comes the chilly weather and winter. I don't like Christmas, I don't like winter clothes and I think the only thing I look forward to in terms of winter is being able to wear my posh leather jacket I spent an arm and a leg for last year.

2. This past week I've been teaching my students about different relationships (ie. parents, siblings, ex-boyfriends, etc.) and so I thought it'd be funny to use my own family and friend photos to demonstrated such relationships. I guess I should have thought this out more cause to demonstrate the meaning of "ex" I popped up a picture of Pretty Boy and Byung Ryang. They were quite intrigued that I dated Korean men and so on Monday it was funny. On Tuesday, it was a bit uncomfortable and by today's last class, it was down right uncomfortable. I stood there with Byung Ryang's picture blown up on the massive Power Point screen and ended up having fast forward to the next screen cause my voice got all shaky when I said his name.

3. Student take-home assignments continue to flood my desk... and I love it. Some of them did an incredible job, wow! I'm so impressed, seriously... SOOOOO impressed! My students rock!

4. After school I met up with Byung Hyuk. We took a walk across campus and then took the bus home together. Now, I always knew Byung Hyuk was quite the popular man on campus but apparently he knows more people than I ever thought and so today, as we walked together, he made it known that I should be careful. He found out I've been hanging out with a particular guy who, as it turns out, is, how should I put this... a wolf in sheep's clothing. I reassured him that this guy is just a friend but he told me again, be careful. "Keep distance", were his exact words.

5. Scored majorly tonight on getting a winter coat. I figure that if anything was going to get me sick this winter it'd be my walk home from boxing and weight training in soaked gear and so tonight I headed over to the mall to get a training jacket. I was hoping to get a sweet Adidas jacket but they didn't have any I liked and I wasn't about to shil out mad cash for something I think is "so-so". But, just as I was walking towards the elevator, a sign caught my eye, "30-50% off Puma".... sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! Bought this massive black 3/4 length jacket that's so warm I'm able to wear a tank top under it and still be cozy warm. Scored 50% off! Cool!

6. After hitting the weights, I opted out on boxing tonight cause I had way too much marking to do and it's been stressing me out. I really wanted to get it done cause thinking about it keeps me up at night. Apparently Eun Young, who lives in Sambu too, was also up in the wee hours pulling an all-nighter on a paper. I texted him and so at 1:20am we took a tea break on the main floor GS 25.

7. Around 4am I received a text message, a couple of them actually... "Sa rang hae" (translation: I love you)... "I am missing you"... "Me go to you now come out"... "See you me must". At first I was convinced it was Seo. Had he come all the way to Cheonan to see me?! ... no. It wasn't Seo, instead, it was the very dude Byung Hyuk had warned me about. I didn't know how to reply to his messages.

8. So much for keeping my distance... dang. I tossed on my new Puma jacket, runners and headed down to the first floor where I was greeted by "him". He was drunk, super smiley and when I sat down beside him, he put his head on my lap and tried to hold my hands. I pretended to be preoccupied with fixing my hair in hopes of avoiding him getting all "comfortable" with me. I did NOT want to be in this situation but I knew full well that it was my fault for coming out this late in the first place.

9. He had driven to my apartment drunk and so I wasn't impressed but I couldn't exactly let him just drive away. So, I bought him some coffee and made him sit with me for a bit. I didn't dare ask him why he randomly sent me such texts. I blamed such messages on the fact that he was drunk and was hoping he'd forget about them in the morning. Five am rolled around and he had to get going for work. He tried to walk me to my apartment door but I stopped him at the elevator. There was no way I wanted to have to deal with an awkward goodbye at my doorstep, this was awkward enough, and it was way to early in the morning to bop him one in the nose had he had tried to make a move on me.

10. Opened my door to a patiently waiting, ultra cute Mi Nam. Sometimes I'm convinced Mi Nam understands me when I tell him what time I'll be home... hehehe. It's times like this that I am so extremely overjoyed to have Mi Nam in my life. He is perfect love to me... simple, not demanding and unconditional. Got back to marking my student midterms. Mi Nam slept by my side the whole time, God bless his little soul!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...

For someone who talks a lot of shit, you're sure chicken shit in that you can't write your name.
Anonymous is so highschool.
Way to be a champ.
Correction -- CHIMP.
Before you go talking crap about my girl maybe you should get your facts straight.
FACT -- he was drunk
FACT -- Amy was a true friend by making him stay
FACT -- we should be respecting the fact that the didn't let him get back in his car drunk

Buddy you're an ass.
Amy won't say it but I will.
You're an ass.

What's funny is the fact that losers like you think you for some reason are better than her when IN FACT you're the loser WITH NO LIFE except for the life you read about and can ONLY HOPE to one day live.

I've known Amy since the first week of university.
We've been friends for about 8-9 years now.
Amy rocks.
I'd fly all the way to Korea to back that girl up which is the least I can say about other people.
Amy is real.
She's a real beautiful person

-- know that
-- learn that
-- respect that
-- admire that
-- and keep on dreaming you could only be as remotely as good as that -- as good as HER

Hi Anonymous,

On behalf of my friend, J-Boy, I'd like to say sorry for the harshness of his comment he posted. Honestly, I'm not too sure on how many people are leaving comments using the name "Anonymous". Frankly, I think it's more appropriate to leave some kind of signature, so that I can properly respond back to them.
J-Boy lashed out cause well, I've got my share of admirers but I also have my share of haters too. Apparently one of them, who also uses the name "Anonymous" has been bombarded my homepage with nasty comments.

Mean people suck!

You didn't make me feel bad, don't worry. And don't worry about J-Boy, he's a smart guy with an awesome head on his shoulders.

I'm glad you like reading my homepage and am happy to read your comments. Sometimes I think J-Boy and my little "brother" Bram are the only ones who read it and so it's always nice getting feedback from my readers.

My homepage has opened up a whole new world to me and I've met a lot of cool people through it, whether that just be through sharing our homepages, emailing, or sharing information. So I guess my homepage is like a drug to me too. It's the main way I stay connected with the rest of the world and so I do enjoy wriing it.

Please continue to read my homepage and continue to comment. Thanks ;)
