As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Tuesday, November 27

1. Kicked my awesome peer editing lesson to the curb today when only 6 out of my 32 students brought their presentation writing to class. I love it how I totally go out of my way to email my students EVERY Saturday and even go so far as to get key parts translated for them.

2. None the less, I was able to focus on a different part of my lesson and so it was still a really productive class. Next week all my students have presentations and so today I thought we'd practice a short presentation piece I wrote up as an example. It was titled, "Man of my Dreams".

A: What’s up Michelle? You look so happy today!
B: Yes, I am! I just met the man of my dreams!
A: Oh my gosh!!!
B: This is so exciting! I’m in love!
A: Wow! Who is the lucky man?
B: No, no, no. I am the lucky woman! I met him today at a concert. All the girls were looking at him but he came and talked to me.
A: So, tell me, who’s man you are in love with? Please tell me!
B: It’s Hyun Bin.

3. Knowing full well that the students were very shy and didn't want to present in front of the class, I thought it fair to randomly pick numbers and then who ever's name matched with that number off the attendance sheet had to come up and present. I ended up randomly picking guys and so it was so hilarious.

4. The first group didn't change the dialogue and so we had a kind of "coming-out-of-the-closet" scene, where as the second group, they tried to change the gender of the person being talked about (Hyun Bin, a guy) but failed miserably, so their character turned out to be a transsexual. The class was laughing so loud and I was curled up at the back of the room, in tears. Soooo funny!!!

5. On account of being totally bogged down with marking and prep work for the upcoming exam period, I skipped out on training, again, and it's taking it's toll. I love training for various reasons beyond just the satisfaction of knowing I'm pushing my body to its' limits. Training is a kind of escape for me. A means of leaving all the stress behind and just focusing on what I'm doing at that very moment, exercising.

6. I might have just discovered a really, really awesome means of making both Mi Nam and myself happy; I'm brilliant and why I didn't think of this before is beyond me. My discovery was the fact that no one goes up on the roof top of my building... the roof top that's massive. And so, today before I went to work, I took Mi Nam up there. I've been taking him up there a lot lately. Sometimes at night I go up there and on a couple of occasions, I've seen dudes up there. But, during the day, no one is up there.

7. Put out a bowl of water, his bone and his beloved sweater, and then I left him there for the day. Cause of the walls on the sides of the roof top, he's got enough shade if it the sun is too hot. When I finally came home from school, Mi Nam had exhausted himself. I'm sure he must have loved running around all day cause he hadn't even touched his bone.

8. Tried to get Mi Nam to go for a late night jog... no such luck. The boy was too pooped to party and by 7pm, he was all snuggled in his little bed and out for the rest of the night... hehehe.
9. Spent my evening studying Korean and marking... no new story there :(

10. For my last meal of the day, I decided to treat myself to soondaboo from Kimbab Chunkuk. Mi Nam was fast asleep but when I arrived back home with food in hand, he was apparently on his second wind... for about 20 minutes that is. I opened up the bag of soondaboo and as I went to go pour it into my bowl, Mi Nam jumped up... oh gosh! Soondaboo went everywhere... and I mean EVERYWHERE! Mind ya, most of it landed on Mi Nam. Pour Mi Nam's beautiful white fur was now splattered with chunks of tofu, veggies and was all orange from the soup. Had the soup been cool, I would have grabbed my camera to snap a shot, but, it was hot soondaboo. Thankfully it had chilled a bit before the incident but still. I freaked. Thinking that poor Mi Nam's skin would be burned, I grabbed his soup-drenched body and tossed him in the shower. The whole ordeal was quite a lot for him to handle and so my poor little Mi Nam peed in the shower. I checked over his body and there seems to be no burns or what not but I'll watch him and decide if I should take him to the vent tomorrow.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
How many more days of busy-busy-busy do I have?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Trouble is part of your life, and if you don't share it, you don't give the person who loves you a chance to love you enough.
