1. Ever since yesterday, when Hannah joked around about Q and I and said, “Yes, you next year marry!”, I can’t seem to get that out of my head. Today I found myself getting all wrapped up in her comment and it kind of freaked me out.
2. The older and older I get, the more expected it is becoming of me to get married. I can’t really say my parents are pushing me to get married, cause they’re not, but I can’t help but feel like I somehow fell of the marriage bandwagon. So many of my friends are already married with kids. One of my friends commented once, saying that I seem to be traveling backwards. She said that I appear to have “a commitment phobia” and that’s why I never stick with one guy for very long.
3. That’s not true… I’m committed to many things. I’m committed to Mi Nam, my boxing and weight training. So what if those are the only real things I’ve totally committed to.
4. As for the guys, I was committed to Byung Ryang but things turned sour, Kobie and I parted cause I returned to Korea, Pretty Boy went loopy, Yanky flew the coup, and Busan Boy turned into a kind of stalker. Now I’m with Q. He’s totally 100% committed to me but I still have hesitations, and I know it’s not because of him. Maybe it is me. Maybe the problem has been with me all along. Maybe I just am not the marrying type. Maybe my real soul mate is a four-legged creature that sits on my lap and snores into my ear at night; Mi Nam.
5. Scored some mad sore calves after I booted it on the treadmill. I thought I’d do an uphill run and well, apparently that caused me to run on my toes… ouch!!!
6. Plans with Buff Boy flopped on account that he forgot and had made other plans. He always is doing this. Mind ya, he totally made up for it by swinging by my apartment building with his friend. I’ve talked to this particular friend of his a couple of times on the phone but today we finally met. No sooner had I finished eating after training but Buff Boy called me and told me to come downstairs.
7. I came flying out of the elevator and saw Buff Boy getting out of a car parked outside. Then the driver’s door opened and out came this massive 6-foot-something brute of a man. With his fair skin, flushed cheeks and freckles, this gorgeous Wonder Boy looked like he had just stepped out of a magazine. Call me brutal for admiring one of God’s “finer creatures”, and call me terrible for saying this cause ya, I have a boyfriend, but yikes…. He was definitely a walking piece of art! Even my building's security officer who, I should mention is an older man pushing 60, checked him out.
8. We stood in the building front talking for a bit. They were on their way to Chunju but they wanted to say hi. Buff Boy has apparently hyped me up to Wonder Boy and so he wanted to meet me. I told him that I take Korean classes in Gangnam (Seoul) and so he asked me for my number, urging me to let him take me out for lunch.
9. Not knowing what it meant, I gave him my number. Later on in the evening he texted me.
10. With Q out in Daejon, Hannah out with friends, Jae Min at work, and my other friends doing whatever, I decided to spend the rest of my evening chilling out on the couch with Mi Nam and studying my Korean.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do you still believe in soul mates?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music - the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.
-- Henry Miller
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
