1. Had a good morning chuckle, followed by an "Oh gosh...", when I found out that a guy I once dated bought a dog. I don't know whether he bought it as an accessory or what, but maybe this was a sign of progress. Maybe, just maybe, it was his attempt at trying to learn how to love something, or someone, besides him and his money. But I'm worried. I give that poor helpless creature 3 weeks before it's either dead or ditched.
2. My morning pretty much consisted of buying food... cooking the food... eating the food... and then finding a parcel in my mailbox sent from my mom with food in it! Yummy oatmeal... I love it! Thanks mom!
3. Low and behold, my boxing trunks for my fight arrived today at the club! Black silk trunks with my name written in hangual on the front and my Korean name, Jo Su Hyun, on the back, also in hangual.... very cool! I was all smiles when Junior Mint presented them to me!
4. Nice... my not-so-secret admirer called me a pig today as I stepped on the scale. Mind ya, no sooner had I stepped off it but he then turned to me and said, "I like pigs!"... what?! Are we in elementary school again? Are you going to pull my hair and hit me with the magic wand at nap time like TJ?! TJ was my jealous elementary school boyfriend who just couldn't accept that fact that I wanted to marry both him and Mark B... hehehe. I think TJ liked me more though. He liked me so much that one day he even turned the fan on with my finger in it... SPLAT went my innocent young blood all over the very new, very white dress my mother had repeatedly told me not to wear.
5. Training was great, has been all week and so I am definitely in "the zone" now. This past week I had met a new amateur boxer at my club; his English name is JD. He's a young guy, I think a highschool student maybe, who stayed abroad in Canada and so his English is pretty impressive. Tonight we had a chance to talk and so he told me that he's going to buy a ticket to see me fight. Oh, which reminds me... tickets finally got printed and arrived today at the club. The cost to see me and my team mates fight, $20.
6. Had mass boxing practice today so that I could work more on my defence. The deal with mass boxing is that you're not allowed to really hit your opponent. Instead, it's kind of like shadow boxing but with a person in front of you. It's really good for image training.
7. Somehow got convinced to trek out to Songtan, home of Little America, and so I showed up around 10pm with high hopes for a fun night of dancing and giggling with the Trouble Maker, who I also was hoping would not live up to his name tonight... apparently I had my hopes too high.
8. There's something about Songtan that has never sat well with me and I can't quite pin-point it. I don't know whether it's the fact that it's one live meat market with the dudes walking around with too much testosterone, the chicks walking around with not enough clothes on or talking like men,.. or what. Whatever it is, I always get a bit uneasy and nervous going there. It's like they can smell that I am not American meat or something and so I am always bombarded by guys, which is not really flattering, considering... considering many things.
9. The Trouble Maker threw me (no, not literally) into a club packed to the brim with loud, overly hyper Americans and so what did I do?... I found the nearest Korean and hoped to be rescued.... hehehe. The fact that I was the only white chick there wasn't the issue, the issue was that I was the new piece of meat thrown into the lion's den at what appeared to be a oh-so-late dinner. Turns out the Trouble Maker was the most hungry of them all and so that ended up causing quite the late night scene. Leaving him at the gate side calling my name and pleading with me to come back made me feel nothing short of a fool for believing that he was a friend. I've never been into having friends with "benefits". I think finding a true friend is enough of a benefit and bonus in life.
10. Trouble Maker is totally unaware that I have a boyfriend for the very fact that I just thought we were buddies who talk once every couple of months. I love my boyfriend and I knew I should have told Trouble Maker tonight about him, but from the get-go, I had a feeling that this would be the night our friendship would end. And so, on that note, I amused myself by letting him play out his entertaining song and dance, as he tried to woo me with his best manners and lame lines. He ended the night with the grandest of grand lame lines, "I'd do anything to be your boy... anything. If you want a boyfriend... a friend... a lover, I will be that. I will be whatever you want me to be!!!". My response, "Good... then please be nothing to me." And on that harsh note, I figured that I had out done my stay in Songtan and would go home instead of wasting one more minute of my time dealing with unwanted, unnecesary drama. So that's what I did, well, not exactly. Was forced to taxi it home cause it was the only means available but ended up at Q's house. I wanted to tell him something.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do you know the story of the wolf in the sheep's clothing?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Knowledge has three degrees—opinion, science, illumination. The means or instrument of the first is sense; of the second, dialectic; of the third, intuition.
-- Plotinus
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

ohhhh tickets and shorts, now it's for real!!!! I can't believe it's so soon. You're going to be great Amy. I can't wait to hear all about your victory.
And good comeback. They whole please be nothing to me was awesome. Don't think I would have thought of that. And you should know that all those military boys aren't (or won't) be interested in having a 'friendship'.......well the friendship that you are looking for (givin that you have a boyfriend). So stay clear, hehe
Yo Jenn,
Oh ya baby... it's game on. Hey, I was thinking about it the other day, if you and Sung Hyun want to trek it out to Cheonan to see me fight than that'd be cool. I'd be flattered. If you want to come, I'll see if my coach will let you come along to the dinner after. You'd love my team mates. They're all so silly but super talented!
Thanks for the props on the comeback. I've always been a quick one of the tongue. Ya, I hear ya about the military boys, just really sucks though. It'd be nice to hang out there once in awhile, just to get out, but dealing with their drama is too much. They're always looking to hook up and I am just looking to have some good giggles and dance to some good tunes... I guess that is too much to ask though, dang!
Amy that is so kind of you. I would definately go except there is one problem. My ticket to come to Korea isn't until the 26th...............which means I will have to cheer you on from afar!!! Darn it ;(
Thanks so much for the offer Amy. That's very generous!!!!!
Yo Jenn,
Ahhh... really?! Hmmm... ok. I expect to hear your long distance cheers then... hehehe.
