As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, January 18

1. Beat the curse of the ajjumas today when I bolted it to Hongik and ran pass the bus packed with the walking ajjumas. They had got held up in traffic and so today they had to wait for ME!

2. Wow... it's finally Friday, I can't believe it. Where did the week go, seriously. I've been so stinkin' busy with training and studying... time is flying but it hasn't exactly been fun, it's been flat-out hard work!

3. Well, I did it... I cheated on She Ann... I had too! She had told me back in December that she'd be having her baby and would return in mid January. She hasn't returned yet though and my patience with my hair ran dry today. My natural hair color is so much lighter than the color I'm currently sporting and so the roots show extra fast. I've been trying to cover them up with hats, hairbands, and wearing my hair in a ponytail but tonight I gave in. Tonight some random girl, ironically located at She Ann's former hair shop, dyed my hair... jet black!

4. Rushed off to boxing with my head smelling of fresh hair dye and ended up running into ALL my team mates. I haven't trained this late in the evening for quite a long time now and so I hardly see them anymore. There's officially 6 members in our team plus one coach and one assistant coach... me being the only girl. There use to be 2 of us girls but then Min Young stepped down from the ring and no longer boxes.

5. All us team members had promised to meet up tonight outside of boxing but because three of us are fighting on February 23rd, we had to keep it on the low. If Junior Mint knew we were meeting up, he'd freak on us. He always insists we go to bed early, watch our diets and drinking, well, that's definitely out of the question. I don't drink but tonight I knew my team mates would be drinking, and bar food, well, it's never really nutritious!

6. And so, after training, I met up once again with my team mates and some of their friends. Every one of them had their own boxing secret that they wanted to share with me. Q's secret move is by far the most useful to me though.. it'll be my signature move, I'm sure of it!!!

7. Black Skinny's fight is the main event, it'll be a 12 round fight... brutally long! And, between the three of us (Black Skinny, Panty Boy Jr., and me) we have 23kgs to lose... that's about 51lbs... yikes. Black Skinny has to lose 10kgs and so I guess I really shouldn't be complaining about my 5kg, considering.

8. Although the fight day is still about a month away, tonight we celebrated our victories. We even took beats on what round we'd knock our opponents out. Black Skinny joked about knocking his opponent out in the 4th round, claiming that he wanted a short fight (as oppose to the 12 rounds planned) but wanted to give the crowd a good run for their money and a good show.

9. After everyone calmed down, drank their drinks and had talked their mouths off about boxing, we all parted our ways. Q and I ended up staying out a little while longer with Panty Boy Jr. I think it was the first time I've really gotten a chance to sit down and talk seriously with him. I told him I envied him for his boxing talent, he told me he envied me cause I have the "perfect relationship", as he called it. I wouldn't go so far to call it perfect but yes, I think it's pretty awesome.

10. Q thought he was ok enough to drive... I knew he wasn't. He had been drinking with the rest of the team and so I wasn't cool with him driving. He tried to get me to drive, I could have but instead, I insisted on him calling the "call driver" service. I told him that if he dare drove with me in the car and something ever happened to me that my father would fly to Korea and kill him... "Jung maleyayo?" ("Are you being honest?"), he asked... I answered, "No, I'm joking... I have enough friends here in Korea that'd kill ya first." And on that note, he called the call driver service.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do you understand, your life is not just your life?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Man drives, but the Creator holds the reins.

Hi Vbuuren,
Yes... I agree. One life isn't just one life. Instead, it is an intergrated spider web of many lives connected, each affecting each other in it's own unique way.
