1. The curse of the walking ajjumas continues. I thought I’d sneak in early at Hongik and bet those walking ajjumas to the treadmill by arriving 5 minutes before their bus was scheduled to arrive. Turns out their bus arrived early today… dang!!!
2. With no other options but to wait it out and have my patience tested (yet again), I sat down, frowned and bit my upper lip. Mind ya, inside my head I was screaming at them. Maybe if they picked up the pace there, and didn’t do a snail’s crawl, they’d actually get something out of their workout…. Dang!!!
3. I love it… I bust my butt off on the treadmill and yet it’s me who gets laughed at. Nice. I know what they’re laughing at too. They’re laughing at the fact that I run with layers on, layers which include a thick sweater, a hat and my hood pulled over my head. That’s nice… laugh all you want, you wouldn’t be laughing though if I showed you what’s under these layers… ya, that’s right.
4. New 2008 new year’s resolution goal: be the envy of the girls at Hongik. I want to be that girl other girls look at and say, “I wish I looked like her”. Deadline: my birthday, August 6th. By then I’ll be sporting my sick abs, my curves will be kicking and they’ll be calling me Coca-Cola… hehehe. That’s what I always tell Q, “You wait sweety, soon I’ll be Coca-Cola, then you’ll have REAL problems… hehehe”. August 6th, it’s a Wednesday. You’ll find me at Hongik gym. I’ll be the naked one in the change room helping the other girls pick up their jaws… hehehe.
5. Headed over to Dankook to FINALLY hand in my professional portfolio. It’s a book showing my work from this past semester and so it’s loaded with all my lesson plans, PowerPoint screen handouts, teacher copy of both exams, student work, etc., etc…. totalling about 80 pages.
6. Ran into Ki Dong at Dankook. He told me he failed his teaching exam but I had already heard the news. I still hadn't thought of the right words to say to him though. I felt terrible. If there's anyone I know that deserves to have exactly what they want, it'd be him. He doesn't even work at Dankook anymore yet he's always there, eagerly willing and happy to help us... he helps ALL of us. He's awesome. He told me about how he plans on changing his life around so that he can be more focused on studying so that he's more prepared for his re-test.
7. Finally got around to exchanging the blouse Q bought me for Christmas. He keeps on asking me to wear it and well, it’s not really my style but thank God it’s also not my size and so I used the size as my excuse why to change it. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I didn’t like it. Well, I felt like such a brute when I changed it. The girl rung up the price…. WHAT?! Oh my gosh… Q spent an arm and a leg on it. I know it’s the thought that counts, not the price, and I’m sure he was super shy picking out a girl’s shirt, but I know Q and I know that he hates spending lots of money, especially on clothes. He’s not cheap, he’s practical… this shirt isn’t practical.
8. New Konglish word of the day: ‘unimpossible’. Apparently Q didn’t understand the word ‘possible’ but he knew ‘impossible’, so viola… ‘un’, meaning ‘not’ + ‘impossible’, meaning ‘can’t do’ = ‘unimpossible’, meaning something you can’t not do. The double negative makes it a positive, therefore it means something that you can do.… hehehe.
9. Won my sparring match by default, my sparring partner was a no-show. I was totally pumped for sparring today too, dang. I ended up getting into the ring with Milk Dud and having a go at him. Wow… today my respect for him beyond our friendship and him being the junior coach, really went through the roof. I love his boxing style and so sparring with him was super hard. Boy is like a jack rabbit, jumping all over the place. First I had to catch him and then punch him… hehehe, so hard. Milk Dud drilled me on some of his ‘tricks of the trade’, so to speak. His secret to his success with boxing: Don’t stop moving. Not only will it keep you safe but it’ll tire the heck out of your opponent… SO true!
10. My body still hadn’t really recuperated from last week’s training and today I took even more beatings at training, not only on pad work but with Milk Dud, and so I crashed at 9:30pm.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Is the glass half full or half empty?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Rather than cripple, failure can strengthen. Depending on how we respond to them, blows can shatter us as if we were a cheap clay pot or temper us as they would steel.

As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Hi Vbuuren,
Yes, I agree. I train on the treadmill with so many layers so that it raises my heart rate... increased heart rate = burning more calories.
And yes, I'm drinking lots of water... I should be drinking more though.
