As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, January 31

1. In addition to my daily routine of waking up with mad bedhead, the occassional puffy eyes, and pillow lines all over my face, today I woke up and my hand was just as puffy as my eyes... actually, it was worse! I knew my hands had taken a brutal beating at boxing but I didn't imagine this. My middle finger knuckle was totally swollen. It looked like it had been engulfed by a skin-colored marshmellow. It wasn't painful, but it wasn't good.

2. I opted out of going to the doctors to get my knuckle checked out. I figure the worst he'd tell me and the best thing he'd tell me would pretty much be the same thing: refrain from boxing for the next couple of days. Mind ya, he and I both know, that isn't really an option at this point in the game.

3. Nervously headed into boxing but much to my surprise, Junior Mint was away at a meeting and so it was just Milk Dud and I. Milk Dud gave me a dirty look about my knuckle and repeatedly blurted out, "danger"... which didn't really help the situation. We both agreed that I shouldn't do any pad work or sand bag work today and so training today just consisted of skipping, shadow boxing, and abs.

4. Turns out Mr. Incredible isn't so incredible, that is, unless you add "ly" to his name, along with the words "one-track minded". Since I informed him that I am happily coupled, he's stopped his routine "Good morning Amy!" messages and has refused to respond to any of my texts, and my call. I don't blame him, after all, what good could possibly come from hanging out with a girl who's not single anymore?!... ummm... maybe FRIENDSHIP. Crazy idea, I know.

5. Q has some big work assignment he's been studying for and so all plans with him this week have been canceled. Apparently he is in charge of testing driving a new electric car on Saturday... that should be very cool.

6. Got a chance to meet up with Jae Min, that is, after he kept on changing our meet-up time... like 3 times. None the less, always a good time. He kicked my butt at our favorite race car game at the Multi Plex and then we sipped on tomato juice at a local juice shop.

7. Jae Min's new word of the day: white-rain. In normal English; snow.... hehehehe.

8. He tried to give me dieting advice and I laughed it of considering his "diet", and lack there of it, consists of cigarettes and what ever street food his pocket change will buy... hehehe. We both had a good laugh about that and the fact that he tried to eat healthy tonight. "For you!" he said as he chomped down on the corn he bought from the street vendor. I don't even think he likes corn though... hehehe.

9. Later in the evening we went to the movies. The large theater looked rather sad as only 8 people bought tickets to watch a movie called "The Brick". It was a strange film, filled with no-namers, a storyline bombarded with lots of play on the English languague... including English slang that made even me feel like I should study English, and one really intense main character. I liked it. Actually, I liked it a lot and am happy to say that it restored my faith as we know it in movie writers just when I was begining to see no hope for them. I'm hoping that the new upcoming flick, titled "Vantage Point", will finally pick up the scene at the theater box offices.

10. Yikes... Mi Nam had majorly bodily functions misfunction tonight when I went to pick him up and carry him off to bed. No sooner had I put him down but then he puked all over my clean blanket... nasty! Then, if that wasn't bad enough, after cleaning up that mess, he then went and peed all over the new blankets I had just put down... ahhhh!!! I take it he must have eaten something bad when I was out of the house and it didn't agree with his tummy... apparently. As for the peeing, that's a first. I think it was just bad nerves, I don't know. But with no more blankets in my house, I was forced to curl up on the hardwood floor under my Puma jacket... so ghetto :(

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do you know of any good upcoming movies?

Ha! Friendship with a girl that has a boyfriend? In which reality does that happen? :p

As for movies, I'm waiting for "Charlie Wilson's War" to come to my local cinema.

Hey Jenn,
Ya, I thought it was pretty cute too. The other day I tried to ask my coach about female protection in the ring but didn't know how to say "turtle shell bra" and so I ended up saying "breast clothes"... hehehe. Everyone had a good laugh at it but hey, it got my message across.

Hi Vbuuren,
No, I wasn't mad at Mi Nam. He's just a pup and I knew I should have made sure there was nothing laying around for him to eat. He is one hungry monster... hehehe.

Yo, yo Andy,
In reality, yes, it does happen but then again, some people live in their own twisted reality and aren't mature enough to be friends with members of the opposite sex.
Never heard of that movie... I take it it's a scary one?!

Yeah, I get what you mean. I've had problems with making female friends here in Korea. Most of them think I'm a typical foreigner that is just meeting girls for the obvious stereotypical crap, but if they're gonna think like that, that's their loss.

Here's a link for Charlie Wilson's War: http://www.charliewilsonswar.net/
