Dream big... and then do something about it!!!
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

You're blog is interesting to me because I took up boxing about a year ago for fitness and have a friend who I spar with. She is very good and I work on my speed and defense a lot and it is hard to coordinate everything. I like it though and I hope you do well with your bout and I hope we can correspond a bit. Later. :)

THAT'S IT!!YOU KNOW IT!!!
Hi Beth,
Glad to hear about another person falling in love with boxing... that's awesome. I'm sure I don't have to tell you just how wicked of a workout boxing is. It's going to do WONDERS on your body... you just wait! I love it!
Keep training hard, don't lose the love of the sport, and keep your guard up!
Thanks for the encouragement for my upcoming game. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and get it taped.
Hi Vbuuren,
Yes... ;)
I just wish more people kept their dream alive!
Hi Amy-Michelle,
I was glad to hear from you and it’s great to hear from someone so far away and to have an interest similar to mine. I’m sort of new to the blog scene and I will have to post more on mine when I have the time. I love your blog and you have some nice pictures as well as some movie clips. I try to read more and maybe I can sneak some reading of it at work but they don’t want us to do that but who cares? Heh heh.
It’s funny because I started taking some boxercise classes for fitness and getting in shape but always wanted to try real boxing or at least sparing and through the class met a good girl to spar with who is my weight and size actually. She is a bit younger at 21 but at my age, 30 I feel I should have more experience you know? I played team sports in high school and college but never really any individual sports as boxing. Many of my friends especially women don’t understand my interest in boxing but I always like the sort of chess match physically you have with the opponent.
I work out almost everyday and spar with Laura usually twice a week and yes it does wonder’s for your body and I think it keeps you pretty solid. I’m kind of slow-footed whereas Laura is good on her feet so I find I get in trouble a lot with that. She has a really good left jab and it’s quick, and doesn’t seem that hard but as you said I have to keep my guard up and that’s sort of been a problem with me remembering all I have to do. I get clumsy with my footwork at times and I’d like to get some new gloves soon.
I’ll let you know how my sparing goes and I hope I can finish my blog at some point or add to it soon. I need more hours in the day. Heh heh.
Thanks for writing and do well with your training and I look forward to hear from you when you can.
Beth
