As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Saturday, March 1

1. Today we celebrated the March 1st Movement here in Korea that dates back to March 1st, 1919. The March First Movement, or the Samil Movement as it is also referred to, was one of the earliest displays of Korean independence movements during the Japanese occupation of Korea. It was on this day, back in 1919, at 2pm that 33 nationalists met in Seoul to read the Korean Declaration of Independence. During the series of demonstrations that began that day in Korea, it is estimated that about 7,000 people were killed by Japanese police and soldiers.

2. Unlike previous years when I actually got out and actually celebrated the holiday, today I celebrated it by curling up to my favorite Korean and hibernating in his house for the day... hehehe.

3. Today I was Doctor Bere. Q wasn't feeling very peachy and so I introduced him to the wonderful world of Western medicine that I had picked up last time I was at the Air Force Base. With my medicine cabinet reaching an all-time low on western meds, I'm thinking it's about time I went in search of that underground market that dude Brandon mentioned to me or I need to start mingling again with the American Air Force peeps.

4. With Q passed out and dead to the world for most of the day, I couldn't bring myself to wake him up and so I laid beside him and watched him sleep. Eventually I too was out like a light.. watching him sleep wasn't so exciting... hehehe.

5. Checked-in back at home to see what Mi Nam was up to. Apparently he had taken it upon himself to start stripping one of my walls of the wall paper.... oh my gosh. I was intending on doing this but not today. Naughty, naughty boy Mi Nam. The four-legged little rascal knew he was in trouble cause when I arrived home, he was in hiding.

6. Officially stripped of his freedom to freely roam the house while I am gone. It was a hard lesson but he had to learn it and so I put in the bathroom for time-out. He may be as cute as a button but his cuteness couldn't save him this time.

7. Q took me out to dinner at a restaurant tucked away in the countryside of Mokcheon. Rumor has it this place is famous because it is haunted. Locals claim that if you go by the restaurant around midnight, you might be lucky enough to see the ghost that paces back and forth in the kitchen. What's so lucky about some ghost messing around late at night in the kitchen though?! Like I want some dead man tampering with the food I'll be eating. Mind ya, it made for a really interesting story and it kind of spooked me.

8. I joked about the story but in all honesty, there's no way I'd want to come by at midnight to see if there really was a ghost or not. It's like that time in elementary school when the girls told me in the bathroom that if you say "Bloody Mary" three times while looking in the mirror than Bloody Mary would appear behind you in the reflection. I still, to this day, haven't the guts to do it... hehehe.

9. Stuck around the restaurant and ended up closing it with the staff. The meal was awesome and I was loving the million and one side dishes... ok, so it was only like 16 side dishes but it was totally delicious!!! By the time we finished our meal it was after 11pm and I was eager to go... partly because I didn't want to see the ghost... hehehe.

10. Couldn't help but think... just one week ago today, at this very moment I was in tears and nursing a very broken heart. Time may heal all wounds but it doesn't mean we forget them. I wish I could have last Saturday back. I'd do it all over differently.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Any regrets?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
