As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Tuesday, April 15

1. Today was a strange day. It all started when I woke up with puffy eyes for no apparent reason. Actually, I think Q calling me at 2:30am and then sending me photo to my cell phone around 5am had something to do with it. What's up with these puff eyes though?! Seriously. I'm now a "Powder Puff Girl"... "puff" being the key word here.

2. In the morning my computer decided sometime between last night and this morning that it's got a mind of it's own and so somehow ALL my play lists and nicely organized music selections are gone... completely gone!!! Mini meltdown in the morning over that... not fun.

3. The water company turned off my hot water, claiming that I hadn't paid my last bill, which is bull. I paid it last week, early actually. Somehow I think I'm getting played here. No sooner do I pay one bill but another one comes. So for now, it's army showers for me... my head hurts!

4. Despite yesterday's rocky start to presentation week for my students, today's students really picked up the pace and raised the standards. Even those whom I thought may struggle with today's presentations, gave presentations nothing less than great.

5. For their presentation, I had asked my students to pick any random city in the world and tell the class, in a creative way, why we should come and visit. Many students worked in pairs and presented their city via a conversation. Many used sound effects and music but the one that stuck out in my mind came from two boys in my last period class. They started off their presentation with a mellow love song and then read a letter to the class, a letter addressed to me. They talked about how they wanted me to visit their hometown and honestly, it was so sweet. I felt so touched by their sweet style, kind words, and heart-felt letter... I couldn't help but say "Ahhhh...."

6. After class, two boys stuck around to talk to me. On Tuesdays I always seem to stick around after class cause my Tuesday classes rock and are so full of awesome energy. Tuesday students seriously make my week. My two Tuesday classes are my favorite and for that reason I really love Tuesdays. I think next in line to my Tuesday classes, tied for second are my two afternoon Friday classes, then my first period Thursday class and one of my Monday classes. Honestly though, I have some pretty awesome students in all my classes but Tuesday's classes seem so comfortable and the students all seem pretty tightly knit with each other.

7. Sweet... discovering today that I have a whole whack of days off in May means that I may be able to schedule a fight. Children's Day (May 6) and Buddha's birthday (May 12) are two definite days off. Dankook festival week is May 19th to May 23rd and so this may mean I have the whole week off... cool!!!

8. Later in the evening, after I seriously got drilled at boxing, I met up with Ki Dong and off we went to Q's house for dinner. Q had spent the whole day, starting in the wee early hours, fishing with some of his coworkers. I told him he wasn't allowed to come home until he caught me a big fish... hehehe. Total fish caught count reached 100, or so I was told.

9. Haven't talked to Ki Dong in what feels like weeks and so it was great to see him again. He met Q at my fight but this was the first time they sat down and had a good chat. They chatted away in Korean, thinking that I didn't understand... I understood. Surprisingly enough, I understood a lot more than they originally thought I would... hehehe.

10. Ki Dong only stuck around for a bit. He had work at home waiting for him but, unlike him, Q and I had tomorrow off and so we stayed up pretty late, chatting and giggling around the table that stood just short of a foot high.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Why of all days did I forget my camera tonight?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
