1. First official day of holidays, sweeeeeeeeeeet!!! Mind ya, I ended up going into work. I had to meet with 5 of my students for their exam and then I stuck around for a couple of hours.
2. I had sent out a mass email to my students last night, telling them who among them are failing the class due to poor attendance and so today one of those students came in to talk to me. Dankook University has a three missed classes equals an automatic fail and the only excuses they give are if you sleep in a hospital overnight, have a military health check, or have a death in the family. All three excusable excuses must be accompanied by an official document/letter and so I have a folder full of doctor notes, military forms and death notes. Well, this particular student who came to see me today had been sick but hadn’t stay in a hospital. We both sat there thinking of what to do. I mean, rules are rules and if I go bending them for one, what happens if the rest hear of it?!
3. As my student sat there waving his hands in front of his eyes in hopes that it’d help stop the tears that were swelling up his eyes, I turned to him and told me to bring his medicine prescription and a letter from his mother, the letter is kind of grade-schoolish but I didn’t know what else to do. He’s a good student. His English isn’t the greatest but he’s always tried hard in my class and so I felt rotten thinking that he’d fail cause of something so silly like attendance.
4. At boxing today Junior Mint made we test out my body shots on some random amateur boxer who stood at least a head taller than me. Junior Mint yelled at me to punch the young guy but I nervously approached him. I wasn’t afraid of hurting him, instead, I was afraid of hitting him in the “you-know-where”.. trust me, it wouldn’t be the first time. Last time Junior Mint made me do this exercise, I almost ended up sending one of the guys to the hospital after fully squaring him… ouch!!!
5. Did a little window shopping with Q today. We went window shopping for “couple rings” today. For those of you who live in Korea, you are probably well aware of couple shirts, couple cell phone accessories,… couple this… couple that… and couple rings.
6. The rings we looked at were very stylish, mind ya they also came with a “pretty” price tag… yikes!!! I like the idea of couple rings though. They’re not exactly the same ring for both the man and woman, instead, both rings are a bit different from each other but you can still tell that they’re a couple… kind of like real life couples, same but different.
7. Have you ever noticed how couples tend to look like each other?! I’ve noticed this but Q and I totally don’t look alike, and I’m talking more about style than the obvious fact that he’s Korean and I’m not. The ring sales lady had quite a task trying to pick out a couple ring that suited both our style. I think I have expensive taste. I like chunky jewellery that is a bit flashy and sparkly. Q, on the other hand, he’s a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy and so a ring with diamonds just would look funny on him.
8. Mi Nam has upgraded from pooping on command to now telling me when he has to go out to the bathroom… hehehe. Tonight, while Q was over, Mi Nam stood at the door and barked a bit. I tried to quiet him but he continued… very strange. Five minutes later I found out why… pee on the floor. He had to go pee.
9. Got asked if I spoke English today by some business men who were sitting outside my building tonight. I thought it was quite funny and so I answered, in Korean, “No… do you speak Korean?”… hehehe.
10. So tomorrow’s the big night… the night my episode airs on KBS1, cool!!! Don’t worry, I’ll figure out some way to either link it to my homepage here or get a copy of it to post.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Aren't there exceptions to every rule?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Take care of yourself. Good health is every one's major source of wealth. Without it, happiness is almost impossible.

As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
