As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Sunday, June 22

1. Woke up to a desk full of student final marks waiting to be tallied up and so, that’s how I spent my morning… not really fun.

2. For the rest of the day, however, it was ALL about Mi Nam. We went for a walk in the park, did a bit of jogging, took an afternoon nap, and even went shopping for food together.

3. Q called me to tell me that he had a dream we had a baby together… sounds more like a nightmare if you ask me! I don’t about you but honestly, what’s so great about having a baby? Why do so many people want to have a child? To me, having a child doesn’t mean happiness nor success. I am already successful and happy on my own terms. Happiness to me is waking up everyday in my sweet downtown apartment, having food in my fridge, a healthy body, an educated mind, not worrying about money, friends and family who love me, and a job I’ve never woken up to and said, “I wish I didn’t have to work.” And because I can say I am honestly happy, I consider myself very successful. But wouldn’t a baby change that… wouldn’t it crash my little bubble world of happiness?!

4. Take Mi Nam, for instance, now I know comparing a dog and a baby is like apples and oranges but hear me out… when I got Mi Nam, I was more interested in what he’d be like when I could actually do things with him. I really wasn’t all that interested in him when he was a puppy… pooping on the floor, peeing in the corner, sleeping all day, and well, being a baby. I am not really interested in babies. I don’t find them interested nor do I find most particularly cute. I’m much more interested in the five year old who can tell me their name, play soccer and knows how to put on their own shoes. So if I could just jump from a newborn to a five year old then, OK, sure a kid would be great.

5. Q phoned me to tell me that the pension weekend that I skipped out on cause of not wanting to repeat the weekend in Hell, is, in actually more like Heaven. Eleven men, no annoying wives and their high-pitch dog-only voices, NO CHILDREN, and all men are walking around in panties…. Ahhhh… I KNEW I should have gone!!

6. Mi Nam officially pees AND poops where and when ON COMMAND… I’m excited… hehehe. This, if anything, has been the highlight of my weekend!!! I discovered this today when we got into the elevator and asked Mi Nam, “Do you have to go to the bathroom?”, where upon hearing the word “bathroom” he squatted down and got into “pooping position”… hehehe. Stopped him before he actually pooped but then I tested it out again outside… yup, he’s definitely aware of the word bathroom… hehehe.

8. Mi Nam’s list of Korean vocab/commands to date include, bathroom, delicious, eat, sit, don’t, be quiet, sleep, come here, water, and our floor number. His only English command to date is walk.

9. In attempt to find Mi Nam a girlfriend, I eagerly approached random owners out walking their dogs today but, on both attempts, the owners asked me if he had surgery (if he was neutered). Upon telling that no, he is “all natural”, as I like to put it, the owners yanked their dogs away from Mi Nam and scurried away. Oh please… don’t flatter yourself… hehehe. Like I’d let Mi Nam get with a toy poodle with a purple dyed tail and barrettes in it’s hair, we were merely just being polite… hehehe.

10. Thought a lot about my possible trip to Canada and came to the conclusion that if I go, I’d go for the first week of August. Big plan on my agenda, planning a massive birthday party for myself so that not only do I get to spend my birthday with my Canadian friends but it also means I get to see them all. Making lunch dates, dinner dates, and what not with what felt like a million friends last time I went to Canada left me drained and feeling like I needed a vacation from my vacation!!!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
It's funny how dogs and cats know the inside of folks better than other folks do, isn't it?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
A dog owns nothing, yet is seldom dissatisfied.

I completely agree with your thoughts on babies. I also like older children better, although I bet it's awesome when they're newborns and sleep so much. You can actually get things done, whereas with toddlers I imagine you spend all your time running after them.

I am getting to the age where *sniff, sniff* I am pretty much going to have to have a baby now or never have one. I need 10 more years, but don't have them. We're planning to have one and adopt one. We'll see...

I would definitely make sure you're on the same page with Q on the baby thing, though. I've heard that Korean guys usually want a baby right away after getting married (not sure why). But then, my guy didn't. We were definitely on the same page which worked out well for us.
