1. Was pleasantly surprised by Kobe taking half a day off work so that we could go riding. I had nervously been looking forward to seeing him and so it felt awesome to see him again and score a massive hug. We flew around town on his Suzuki motorcycle with no real destination in mind but ended up getting into a chase with a storm cloud that drizzled on us but it was no real competition with the Suzuki.
2. Headed over to the St. Lawrence Market for lunch, I love that place!
3. Apparently the word of my trip is “supersized”. Everything is so supersized here in Canada… the food servings, roads, cars, people… everything. Didn’t realize that Kobe fell into this supersized category until I gave him the t-shirts I had bought him in Korea, oh gosh!!! We had swung by the house where I’m staying and so he tried on the shirts there. It ended up being quite the hilarious mini fashion show as I literally had to help Kobe out of the shirts… hehehe. His arms totally stretched out the sleeves and it looked as if the shirt was painted on his chest… hehehe. I didn’t realize just how big he was.
4. “You’re not going to Greyhound me, are you?!”… for those of you who have heard about that pure psycho who decapitated and paraded around with the head of a young man on a Canadian Greyhound bus, well, apparently people are already using it as the butt of jokes. Kind of sick, yes, but I heard this joke about 3 times today.
5. Finally got around to updating my homepage… sorry.
6. Plans to head out to W-town for an old elementary school classmate’s birthday totally got pushed aside and forgotten about. Instead, Graeme, Madi and I decided to go out for a night on the town. Two problems though, what to wear and where to go. My what to wear problem evolved into quite the fashion show as Graeme sat on the bed while Madi handed me tons of clothes to try on and show off… hehehe. I must have tried on a good dozen clothes and strutted my stuff for Graeme to pick from… hehehe.
7. My partner in crime Italiano joined up with us and after being totally indecisive about where to go, we finally decided to go to Shallow Grove. It was pretty dead in there and I was glad to note that the manager wasn’t there, after all, that’s where I met my ex-fiance… ya. No sooner did we walk in the door but who should we run into but a university friend of mine, Jerome, who I haven’t seen for about 6 years!
8. Graeme and Madi’s friend Tommy showed up. I was totally convinced he was not only gay but the most annoying dude I’ve met in a long time. He kept on saying, “Oh… I know Amy like totally hates me!” in which I replied with, “No, no, no… I don’t hate you. I’d love to drop kick ya though.” Trust me when I say he was annoying. Italiano was loving watching me squirm around this dude and so he totally was encouraging Tommy. Tommy kept on asking me for hugs and so I must have made a million excuses, ranging from silly “I’m an anti-hug person” and “I’m trying to quit” excuses, to the ridiculous “hugs make me claustrophobic” and “I am allergic to many skin lotions and don’t want to risk a reaction”.
9. Somehow we got convinced by Tommy to go to some loft party downtown. So the bunch of us searched for this loft and ended up getting lost in this industrial building. Italiano and I busted out into a spontaneous photo shoot while the others scrambled to find this loft that was supposedly booming. Ya, there was definitely a party at the loft… WE were the party. We showed up and there was five people sitting around looking bored.
10. By the time I arrived back at Graeme and Madi’s home, it was around 4am. It had been a long night but a really fun night and so while the two of them tucked themselves into bed, I laid on my bed eyes wide open and wondering why I ever left this place. It’s nights and friends like these that are bound to make me cry as I board my plane back to Korea. It’s hard. I already know it’s going to be heartbreaking to leave my friends again and so I am already looking forward to next summer when I can see them again.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Is there a happy medium between the two worlds?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Be careful what you wish because you might just get exactly what you wished for.

As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
