As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Sunday, November 23

1. Random habits I absolutely despise doing…

- washing my face
- combing my hair… strangely enough, I only comb my hair once every 2 days...haha
- bathing Mi Nam… I prefer his “potato chip” smelly body
- vacuuming… Mi Nam always freaks out when I do
- washing my hand wraps for boxing… hehehe… stiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinky!!!
- washing my frying pan… it’s gross, I know, but I my eggs don’t stick as much
when it’s one day dirty
- wearing socks
- talking on the phone... I'm just not that kind of girl anymore
- waking up early... not even a free gym membership can get me up
- ironing and after 10 years of living on my own, I still have never ironed. That's what the dry cleaning man is for silly... hehehe.

2. Weird and not-so-weird habits I can’t seem to get enough of …
- brushing my teeth… on average I wake up 2-3 times in the night to brush
- doing laundry… am addicted to the lavender fabric freshener
- grocery shopping… I stop by the grocery store at least 4 times a week
- showering… I shower 2-3 times depending on if I went weight training/boxing, and
I shower long…I think this stems from my clean-freak ex
- cat naps... I'm notorious for random mid-afternoon and mid-evening naps
- bedtime stories... I use to listen to them on a tape deck before I lost my tape
- breakfast of champions... no matter how late I'm running, I ALWAYS eat breakfast
- lounging around the house in minimal clothing... it's my golden house rule, hehehe.
- pressing the snooze button... we have a mutual love-hate relationship cause I set my alarm for 6:40am but, and it never fails, I always continually press the button and wake up at 7:30am.
- cranking my music... I like to think of it as "sharing" it with my neighbors
- breaking out into spontanious dance moves... trust me, I even do this in class... hehe
- mimicing people... it's both a bad and good thing, helps me with learning Korean
intonation but ticks some people off

3. Slaved away at my Power Point lecture. This week will be week 13 at school, lecture 12. Next week will be the exam review, then the exam, and then my final mark interviews… cool! This means that there’s technically only 1 more lecture I have to create and a total of 4 more weeks of school…. Sweet!!!

4. You know you’re a geek when you race off to the PC room to print off a TOPIK (proficiency in Korean language test)… hehehe. One of my students works part-time at the PC room near my house and I knew, if she knew the English word “geek”, she would have definitely called me that today.

5. Agreed to do the unthinkable, ditch the diet for a meal, and splurge on cheese tak galbi. I treated Mr. Starbucks my favourite meal in Cheonan and then gave him a bit of a tour of downtown, hitting the main strip of shops, the mall, theatre, bookstore, and Coffee Bean. I give him a week before he’s addicted to Coffee Bean running through his veins… hehehe.

6. The main lady at the cheese tak galbi restaurant asked me why I haven’t visited her lately, and about an hour later, once the food sat heavily in my tummy, I was reminded of why I eat
smaller meals. Ahhhh… tummy ache!!!

7. Had a meeting with my director today and so I nervously headed off for that. I’m brutal for expecting the worst and so I went there thinking that it’d result in the pulling of hair or some chair throwing… hehehe. No worries though. Turns out it was just a matter of miss communication and so, needless to say, I was relieved. Still got my job… hehehe.

8. Sat with my potato-chip-smelling Mi Nam for a couple of hours, marking quizzes. Not fun.

9. I had been wanting to see the movie “Blindness” for awhile now and what a coincidence but who should I run into but a certain someone with movie tickets to the very movie I want to see and no one to share his second ticket with?! So… tonight I got to see it. It was kind of like “Lord of the Flies”. It made for an interesting watch and it had a couple of well-known actors, so my expectations of it were pretty high, but there were some noteworthy flaws in the writing. For starters, the fact that none of them clued into the fact that many of them were the main character’s patients was pretty brutal. Then there’s the fact that the main woman (who could see) didn’t really try to cover up her secret and carelessly walked around the place. Actually, I’ll stop there… I don’t want to spoil it for you. It was pretty good but not great.

10. Christmas decorations are in full-effect here in Cheonan and so tonight I sat outside in the park and enjoyed the lights. I’m not a big fan of Christmas besides it reminding me that I’m not in Canada but I dig the white lights on the park trees.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What are your habits?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Habits are safer than rules; you don't have to watch them. And you don't have to keep them, either. They keep you.
