As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, November 27

1. Have you ever had one of those days when you woke up and you just knew it’d be a rotten day?! Well… today was my no-good, stinky-smelly, down-right rotten day. And I totally knew it too from how I woke up.

What made my morning so rotten…

* woke up in a cold sweat from a nightmare
* woke up two hours later than I had hoped for.. so much for weight training
* emailed myself the wrong file to print off for school
* photocopier decided to go loopy, leaving excess random blank pages
* made myself oatmeal at school and was left to eat it with ONE chopstick
* went to indulge in some yummy hard boiled eggs and realized too late they were LAST week’s old eggs
* found out too late that the skirt I was wearing was altered too much by my dry cleaning man
* Murphy’s Law, the one day I don’t bring my umbrella, it rains
* forgot my book in the office… all the way on the other side of campus
* and to top it ALL off, while waiting at a red light, some older man in front of me let one rip… now that’s just flat out dirty!!!

2. On the plus side however, I guess today kind of balanced it’s self out, starting with the end of class when a certain someone showed up outside my classroom, all decked out and eager to drive me where ever for whatever… can’t complain about that!

3. Unfortunately I had made the mistake of accepting an invite the other day by none other than Two-Cell Girl, as a kind of favour for Gangster Oppa, so I had to head out to her place today. Had a good laugh at the fact that Two-Cell Girl is more than comfortable walking down the street with me in her yellow duck pajamas… hehehe.

4. DANG!!! Two-Cell Girl and her lack of manners must be doing something hardcore to be living all Posh Spice-like… wow. Her place is pretty sweet but what was sweeter was the Mini that she drove… it’s awesome.

5. Two-Cell Girl thinks we’re all buddies now, we’re not. I have way too many brain cells in my head for her to comprehend and handle. This was merely me doing what Gangster Oppa had asked me to. Apparently she was all stressed the other day, thinking that I was going to beat her or something. Oh please... I don't give out beats for free, what, do you think I'm some kind of amateur?! I'm a professional. My beats are going to cost you... from your pocket.

6. The club was relatively empty tonight and so I trained along side Junior Mint and Milk Dud. Little Miss Sunshine was the only other person there and so it meant I got to crank my own tunes. I really should record on video what training on nights like these are like cause it’s totally different than usual nights when the club is packed and Junior Mint is busy training a million and one boxers. Training tonight was intense but super fun. I was super pumped from the loud tunes and Junior Mint training by my side added to my adrenaline. Mind ya, I got in trouble for still not having cut my hair, apparently it’s a big deal to Junior Mint. I haven't had my hair cut since the summer and so my bangs are quite long. I tried to pin them back tonight but that totally failed. Junior Mint says he gives me a few more days before he takes his scissors and cuts it for me… oh gosh!!!

7. Got a chance to work in my original pair of Adidas gloves that the Cheonan Trump had given me. I’ve only used them once but I killed my other gloves a week or two ago and so I’m on to breaking in a new pair.

8. SOUND HAS RETURNED!!! Yup, that’s right. My computer got fixed tonight and so I am no longer stuck listening to my own blah singing or those annoying Korean radio stations… wicked!!!

9. Had an unexpected visitor show up tonight at my house, bearing nothing but his rendition of romance in a bag… hehehe… chicken and milk. He knew I’d be coming home late from boxing and would be starving, so he showed up with a feast in hand… nice.

10. He even brought food for me to indulge in for breakfast… very nice.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Is the modern day man seriously that ignorant to romance?

I love it when the gym is empty. Makes it so much easier. So whose the mystery man?
And random question, how much does it cost to fly from SK to Canada?
In Canada currency.

Hi Anonymous,
Ya, I totally agree. I love cranking up the music the most though, it totally gets my mind in the game.

As for the mystery man... hehehe... he's not such a mystery but I'll fill you in later on that.

A ticket to Canada you asked, well, Canada is pretty big so it really depends on where exactly you're going to in Canada and also when you're going. From Toronto to South Korea it's a little under two grand but at Christmas time, you can pay around three grand. Definitely not a cheap ticket, hence why I only visit once every year and a half or so.
