As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, January 1

1. Started the new year off by sleeping most of the day away, sporting mad bed head and a long summer tank top I decided looked better as a mini-dress. I was anti-make-up, pro-laziness today… all day. Good stuff… hehehe.

2. Finalized my new year’s resolutions.
My New Year’s Resolutions for 2009:
- drop down to 49kgs
- quit “The Club”
- write in my Korean journal everyday
- acquired my long-awaited 6-pack
- stay in better touch with family
- complete levels 4 and 5 of my Korean language studies
- study Korean at least one hour a day
- stop biting my nails
- grow out my hair
- save a huge whack of cash
3. Laid to rest my Revlon XXL Volume lash mascara. Hello new MAC mascara!

4. Mi Nam’s newest obsession became a decapitation and mutation when he decided that Mr. Hotdog looked better with no head and so he chewed it off and ripped out all it’s stuffing… hehehe.

5. He’s alive!!! Mi Nam’s friend the massive Bull Mastiff who I had labelled as dead is alive. His owner, the nasty man that he is for making that beautiful dog fight, has disregarded the cage and instead has limited the dog to a short chain leash. I haven’t seen him for months and so when Mi Nam and I turned the corner and spotted him, I was very shocked, as was he. He got all excited and started to bark and whine. Poor creature. I swear, some days I’m a hair length short of stealing that dog, other days I just wish the owner would kill it. The misery that dog continually experiences is awful. When he’s not literally fighting for his life in a vicious underground gambling ring, then he’s freezing outside and living within a three-feet radius. Some one should really chain up the owner and make him fight; he wouldn’t last a day.

6. Note to self: If there’s anyone in this world I’d ever hate it’d be people who are cruel to animals.

7. Started my Korean journal. One of my new year’s resolutions is to write in my Korean journal everyday. It’s not really a journal actually, it’s more or less just a book I bought to practice my Korean writing, but the plan is to write something in it everyday.

8. My new obsession: low-fat plain yogurt with mocha flavoured protein shake mix stirred in it!!!

9. Leave it to Mi Nam to score a cold and be able to still come out looking as cute as a button despite his non-stop drooling nose and constant sneeze-fests… hehehe.

10. Spent a good chunk of my evening responding to Christmas and New Year’s email wishes from students and preparing tomorrow’s winter camp evening class. I had promised them that we’d have a post-New Year’s Eve party and so now I’m stuck trying to think of what games to play.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Any suggestions for games to play?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.

Hi Anonymous,
Ya, ya, ya... I know. Everyone wants to hear the ring story. I've decided to hold off for a bit. It's kind of a sensitive issue right now on my plate :(
