1. My shoes showed up at this morning around the 10am mark.
2. Originally Snickers and his father wanted me to head out with them to Snickers’ grandfather’s house out in the country but I cancelled once I found out it was a sleepover. Meeting his grandfather is one thing but it’s a whole different story to be told I’ll be sharing a room with Snickers when we stay over. I’m not all old-school traditional but I just didn’t feel comfortable and I didn’t think it’d be in good manner to do so.
3. Snickers’ family practically has it set in their mind that he and I will get married. I won’t lie and say I don’t think about it too but Snickers has it in his mind that we’ll get married when he makes world champion status. And not to be the pessimist here but what happens if he never makes status?! Then what? I know it’s mean of me to think this despite me being his biggest fan and not wanting to become like one of those many who questioned my dreams but lately I’ve been thinking a lot. That's my problem... I often think too much, dissect things and think of the "what if's". He could become anything and anything he puts his heart and mind to but what if... what if... what if it takes longer than we both anticipate it to?! I blame my overthinking on the fact that I’m on holidays now. My brain is desperately wondering, looking for something to preoccupy its’ self with. I love Snickers, I love him a lot, but he has this preconceived idea that in order to get married you have to be loaded down with cash. He talks about wanting to shower me with gifts of luxurious dresses and dinners out to fine dining restaurants but I already have way too many clothes and I prefer my peanut butter protein pancakes over some overly expensive meal I can’t even pronounced, served by some stuck up waiter. When my parents got married they had no money. My mom made her own wedding dress and the women at their church cooked for the wedding reception but what they lacked in finances they definitely made up for it in love. Sounds kind of cheesy to say that but it’s true. Together they built upon their dreams and now they’ve got the three kids, the beautiful house, and trips around the world. They made their own Cinderella story, together and I rather do that with Snickers than wait around.
4. I’m finally completely finished filming with Arirang TV but today I got word that Snickers will now be focused for a human documentary hosted by another TV company. They called him a couple of times today, with the last phone call ringing around 10pm. Word has it they’re going to start filming on Wednesday… great (note, that’s sarcasm there).
5. Grocery shopping with Snickers at Home Plus meant test-tasting about a million different things from ice coffee to cream cheese bread. We loaded our cart with tons of veggies, chicken and fruit and then headed back home.
6. I’ve lived in Korea now for almost five years and up until today I’ve been able to avoid eating anything from Lotteria. For those of you who don’t live in Korea, Lotteria is a fast food chain that’s one step, if not more, below McDonalds. Today Snickers insisted I try it out. One word, “nasty”.
7. It was a beautiful rainy Sunday today… exactly the type of Sundays I adore.
8. Trained at the boxing club today by myself and so I cranked up my tunes and went hardcore.
9. I am now officially the 9-nailed boxer… hahaha. Due to all the skipping and running I’ve been doing, well, that and the fact that Junior Mint accidentally slammed the stick down on my toe once, the nail on my left big toe went black and today Snickers pulled it completely off my foot. Ouch!!!
10. Later in the evening I met up with one of my coworkers… not too sure on what nickname to give her yet. Anyways, we met at Tom N’ Toms Coffee Shop and giggled the evening away. She’s a sarcastic gal and so we click. Mind ya, for the most part I don’t socialize with my coworkers, with the exception of the Korean assistants. I try to keep business and pleasure separate, well, that and the fact that honestly, I probably wouldn’t be all buddy-buddy with them if we were to meet in Canada. So… we met up for coffee and the rain returned so we huddled under the patio umbrella and thought we’d wait it out. No such luck and boy did we get soaked despite our apartment being just a stone-throw away… hahaha.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What if?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.
-- T.S. Eliot
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

YOUR ENTIRE TOENAIL CAME OFF?

Hi Anonymous,
Yup... the WHOLE dang thing went completely black and then with a simple pull from Snickers, it popped right off. I think it's from all the pressure put on my feet from skipping and bouncing around the ring.
Jeez, did it hurt or was it numb? The only time I've seen that is from my old grandma. It was pretty nasty. I imagine it must hurt when anything touches that sensitive skin thats usually under a nail...and when it starts to grow back...ew!

Hey Bman,
It didn't really have any feeling actually but I was so self conscious about it because of wearing open-toed heels. I tried to paint it with nail polish but it was just too damn black. It hurt after Snickers ripped it off though. The nail has already been growing and so I have about 1/3 of a nail present now. It hurt for a bit because of skipping and running, and it definitely hurt when I was boxing because I tend to jump around the ring on my toes.
