As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Saturday, July 11

1. Today I woke up and a wave of anticipation filled with a dash of fear, uneasiness and tummy full of butterflies flooded over me. In exactly two weeks I’ll be waking up and it’ll be game day.

2. With my Korean tutoring lesson having been switched to tomorrow and no KBC meeting today, it meant that I had a clear schedule and so boredom hit me like a ton of bricks. Boredom usually sends me into clean-freak mode but today it sleep mode. I slept on the bed, the floor, the office floor, the kitchen floor, I even slept half on Mi Nam’s bed.

3. Slept a lot today… 8-11am, 1-3pm, 7-9pm… ya, apparently I’m abusing the phrase “cat naps” as I clearly am sleeping more than my share of cat naps.

4. Cat nap number #2 was interrupted by students and former coworkers dialing me up to tell me they saw me on TV. And what I later found out was merely a commercial about Monday’s show on Arirang TV turned into quite the early afternoon ordeal involving my manager, Snickers, Arirang, and me.

My human documentary airs this Monday, July 13th at 8:30pm on Arirang TV.
(I'll add a link to the Arirang homepage for you to watch it online on Tuesday but please note that it means you'll have to create a free membership with their site.)
5. Considering I take about three showers a day because of training, I was way too lazy to shower and get dolled up just to go shopping by myself and so I threw on a baseball cap and massive sunglasses before heading out the door.

6. The key word of my day may have been lazy but I definitely got down to business at boxing today. I had anticipated one of my team mates joining me but he got caught up in things at home so I trained alone.

7. Junior Mint’s computer crashed the other day and so we’ve resorted to pulling out any old CD laying around the club and blasting it while we decide on what to do with the computer. Popped in a CD and out blasted Vanilla Ice and Ace of Base… hahaha. Yup, I’m the not-so-proud owner of those CDs, I must admit. I am, however, the proud owner of some very funky dance moves but little did I know that after training when I busted out in such strange moves that the dude who works at the store on the first floor was my audience… oh gosh. If my face had gone any redder it would have popped.

8. I’m moving, or so that’s the plan. Considering my landlady and I never resigned a contract for the year I can’t see it being a problem. I may be moving as early as next month if all goes as planned. I love living downtown but considering the big plans I have sitting on the front of my brain with regards to next year, I’m thinking that I need to relocate in Cheonan and there’s a specific place appropriate. Snickers and I have a one year plan and living downtown isn’t going to make it easy.

9. Snickers is so damn adorable. I love how he, this big top dog boxer, insists on dabbing my sweat away during weight training… hahaha. I use to think he did it so that the other guys training beside me knew that I’m with him but now I know it’s just because of who he is. He’s awesome like that. So caring, so kind… so right for me.

10. I’m jealous, Snickers has English channels and I’m stuck to watching either silly Korean dramas on the 5 channels I do have or am forced to watch cheesy Japanese shows on the 2 Japanese channels. “TV roits the brain”, my father always use to say. That may be so but dang, tonight I really craved English and was hoping there’d be at least an English learning show on. No such luck and so I resorted to watching an old episode of “Sex and the City”, of which I’ve pretty much have memorized it line for line.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What does time have anything to do with it?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
The total history of almost anyone would shock almost everyone.

Hi Anonymous,
I guess you'll have to stick around or tune in in a year to find out;)
