As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Tuesday, July 28

1. While watching a movie tonight I leaned over and looked at Snickers and I thought “how the heck did I ever get so lucky?” First and foremost, I don’t believe in luck, never have never will, but I have no way of explaining how it is that I ended up with such an amazing man to call my “other half”. He definitely is my better half.

2. Leave it to someone related to me to write “can't believe a dog farts 30 times in a day... no wonder they wear collars... so their heads don't explode!!!” as their Facebook status… hahaha. Yup, that’s my cousin Danny for ya. I commented on his status, informing him that us humans toot 14 times a day. He responded with “and that toots travel at 10 ft per second... which should have EVERYONE re- thinking the size of their personal space! Elevators are dangerous!!”… hahaha. Yup, definitely related to me!!!

3. Today was pretty much spent lounging around the house and getting numerous feet and leg massages by Snickers. Nice… he had the game just yesterday but I some how scored the royal treatment… hahaha.

4. Mi Nam continues to play the role of the spoiled mischievous child when Snickers is around and, unknown to Mi Nam, he is definitely treading on thin ice. However, if he doesn’t smarten up and listen to my warnings than his days are definitely going to be numbered, just like my days here at Sambu are numbered.

5. Took Snickers out for dinner at the same BBQ place Kitty Cat had taken me the other day. Snickers totally milked the notion of it being a buffet, an all-you-can-eat buffet. He must have loaded up 4-5 plates with mounds of food and so it’ll only be a couple of days now until he’s back up to the 70kgs mark.

6. As it turns out, Snickers and I together brings our maturity age up in the double digits… hahaha. We have this inside joke about A.D.D. and he loves pulling out his “A.D.D. face” as it never fails to leave me in tears laughing. Tonight was no exception. He pulled out his A.D.D. face at the dinner table and I just about choked on my broccoli.. hahaha.

7. Dinner was followed by a walk in the park and then stocking up on ice cream at Baskin Robins. I swear though, after this week I don’t plan on touching any “unforgiving foods”, as I like to call them, for awhile. I swore when I saw Jodie that I wouldn’t touch ice cream but I’ve already broken that vow. My love for ice cream goes deeper than my love for abs but seeing Jodie’s abs killed my constant cravings for ice cream and replaced my visions of sugar plums with visions of a sick 6-pack.

8. Snickers headed out to Suwon tonight to see his best buddy. He told me that he’d be back tomorrow in the pm, which means he’ll probably swing by my house at 12:01pm… hahaha. That guy couldn’t stay away from me even if you paid him… hahaha. Mind ya, I must admit I’m no better.

9. Late into the evening, borderline morning, I remembered it was K-Gere’s birthday (Snickers’ father) and so, with a minute left to his actually birthday, I texted him “Father I am so very sorry it is so late but I wanted to say happy birthday”.

10. Telling Snickers I was taking Mi Nam out for a late night walk was almost enough for him to jump back on the subway and return to my apartment. He gets so worried about me and so he insisted I call him as soon as I get back from my walk. Yup.. he’s definitely a keeper!!!

What makes you smile?
