As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Saturday, August 22

1. My bed arrived!!! It’s been four years since I’ve had a bed and as much as I have become very use to sleeping on a Korean mat-style bed, it was definitely a sweet sight to see my baby pink bed arrive.

The before (naked bed shot) and the after (bed dressed in it's new stylin' cover).

2. Today marked Snickers and my 100 days as a couple and so I thought I’d kick things off by getting my hair done. I had called up my friend She-Ann the other day and the plan was to see if she could return my hair back to it’s natural colour. Turns out with black hair dye still in the ends of my hair, my hair will have to wait till it can go back to light brown. I was rather disappointed but had anticipated this.

These we supposed to be before shots of my hair but when I came back my hair looked pretty much the same.

3. What I hadn’t anticipated though was losing my gift I had made for Snickers. Often we leave love letters for each other. He usually hides his under my notebook computer and I usually put his in his backpack. Two weeks ago I sat down and started to write him one. It was a good one… a real good one, a really, really, written using the deep down in your heart feelings and all that kind of gushy stuff. I had written several drafts of it prior to writing the final copy and then ditched the drafts so he wouldn’t find it. Turns out not only did he not find it but I couldn’t find it.

4. With no gift any where to be found, I tried to get ready for our couple day date. In my big move I had discovered a dress buried at the back of my closet. It was a dress I had bought a while ago but it was still sporting the price tag. Visible cleavage isn’t a going trend in Korea nor is greeted by anything other than frowns from Snickers and so after pins failed to control the plunging v-line, I resorted to tape. Yes, I actually tried to tape the dress to me. I used double-sided tape but when it too, like the pins, failed, I finally resorted to wearing a sports bra under it. And so with a $200 dress and a cheap $20 sports bra, I headed out with Snickers for dinner.

5. Snickers was also dressed to impress and so I thought we looked like quite the eye-catching couple and so walking down the street arm-in-arm with my dangerously delish boyfriend I felt like a million bucks.

6. Plan was to grab movie tickets, head out for dinner and then have the real party start when we host our first midnight picnic for two up on the roof top of the new home. Grabbing a quick coffee at Coffee Bean before the movie started definitely turned heads and resulted in a couple of people taking our picture as we waited. Not too sure if they had recognized us from TV, we’ve been getting that a lot lately ever since we did a show together for Dynamic Boxing, but they seemed excited to spot us… hahaha.

7. Checked out the movie “Orphan” and it was awesome. I’ve got brutal nerves as it is and so I was definitely quite the jumpy movie goer tonight. Snickers, of course, loved playing the role of my hero by wrapping his arms around me as I watched the movie.

8. Our midnight picnic was definitely the icing on the cake in terms of how perfect it ended our couple day. I hung a lantern I had got years ago at a Buddha’s birthday parade and together Snickers and I sat under it on the picnic pad we had bought in Busan. It was nice to just sit with him and talk but Snickers took it a step further by walking me down memory lane.

Party for two.

And of course it wouldn't be a party without some party favourites... like ice cream!!!
9. Am convinced Snickers has forgotten my name because he no longer calls me “Amy” but instead calls me “Angel”. I am by no means an angel but I must admit that I’m pretty sweet to him, as is he to me though.

10. Despite today being a joyous day, my mind couldn’t shake the sad news that I received exactly a week ago and so I hit a down spot in the evening when reminiscing about things with Snickers brought about me reminiscing about another important couple in my life. Like Snickers and I, they too are soul mates. Prior to her, he had never had any other girlfriend and the same was true for her, and it wasn’t until ten months after he started to date her that they actually had their first kiss. Their first kiss was June 1st, 1965 and it’s been heavenly bliss ever since and I prayed to God tonight for them, that they’d have many more years together despite what the doctors have told them.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Who holds your last first kiss?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Love me and the world is mine.

Hey Amy,
Congrats on your 100 days of being together. I think your hair looks cute and I think you look good in black. The pictures are so cute too. Happy for you.
Yeah,I'm still sparring and eh......it's going so so but I'll have to tell you more later. I learn everytime I put on the gloves but it is fun also.
