1. Waking up for 6am early morning weight training was like waking up the dead, totally unnatural.
2. Beat my record of 170 calories burned in ten minutes on the treadmill.
3. I planned a weight training program for Kitty Cat and she’s been super consistent with following it and so I definitely have to send out a congrats to her for weighing in this week 2kgs less than a week and a half ago. Congrats Kitty Cat!!!
4. After that last bite of banana protein-packed pancake hit my lips I was desperately seeking the bed and so I crashed for a bit.
5. Thought I was way ahead schedule when I showed up for work an hour early, that is until I realized I had emailed myself the wrong PPT file and so I had to race home to fix that dilemma.
6. Snickers had his game weigh-in today out in Seoul and so I got numerous updated text messages about that. He texted me telling me that he weighed in at 65.2kgs but his opponent weighed-in at 63.7, which meant his opponent had to go for a quick run. Then he texted me about all the food he was filling his belly with and this and that.
7. Gave my speaking class today quite the lecture about manners and their lack of them in the hall and before class. “Check yourself at the door and make sure you come with manners or don’t come at all!” I told them. I followed up with it in Korean and so they looked somewhat spooked. I hate stressing my students out with such lectures but today they showed such nonsense manners. Girls painted their nails in class, others copied each other’s homework, some were play fighting at the back of the room, while others were standing on the chairs or playing with the classroom equipment.
8. My last class of the day was a writing class and I am really, really enjoying these students. They’re just such a great group of students, with such positive energy and the class is so laid back. Today I continued on with my lecture about special places and so while they were busy writing away I circled around the classroom looking at their writing. “… the girl with the sunshine in her eyes” was one of the sentences that caught my eye today but when I questioned the male student about who this girl “with sunshine in her eyes” was, he blushed. Later I found out his special place was Dankook. He wrote about how he had seen me on campus but it wasn’t until this year that he finally met me. Apparently I’m the girl “with sunshine in her eyes”; sounds so poetic, and so I was so flattered.
9. Met up with Kitty Cat after work for a much craved for chicken wrap and a black coffee (with a dash of low fat milk… so I guess it’s not so black). We chatted away and then ran into one of my former co-workers, Maria-Marie. Did some downtown shopping together and then we went our separate ways.
10. With Snickers out of town and sleeping over at his game location, this meant I flew solo tonight. I had hoped to hit the sack early but I couldn’t sleep. Snickers kept on text messaging me and asking my every move, well pretty much… hahaha. Lately he and I have been pretty much attached at the hips and so I knew it bothered him to hear that I was taking Mi Nam out for a late night walk, of which I should note I didn’t listen and yes, I did let Mi Nam run wild and off his leash. Snickers was tired but he told me to call him back when I returned from my walk with Mi Nam. I tell ya, Snickers may be a hell of a boxer but he sure is quite the sweetheart and gentleman to me outside of the ring.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What change do you want but actually deserve?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree.
-- Jim Rohn
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
