As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, September 25

1. Do you believe in magic? I don’t. Do you believe in luck? I don’t. But what I DO believe in is fate and miracles and if there were anyone deserving of a crazy, out-of-this-world miracle it’d be my mother, and so, that’s exactly what she got today. My parents are so incredibly faithful to God and so it was so reassuring to my own faith that my mom received this blessed miracle.

2. News of my mom’s miracle reached me this morning when one of my cousins called me from Canada. My mom was scheduled for surgery today and before she went in, they tested her blood. Once again, the doctors found cancer in her blood and so in she went for surgery. She had been told back in August that she had a tumor on her pancreas but while under the knife, the doctors couldn’t find it.

3. No only could they find no traces of the tumor but when they tested her blood once again, there was no cancer. So, at 8am (Canada time) my mom was literally on her death bed and then five hours later she had not only got a clean bill of health but she had been given the biggest miracle of all by God, a second chance at life. What would I do if I had a second chance at life… hmmm… I’d probably start with one massive party.

4. No sooner did I get off the phone with my cousin but I screamed at the top of my lungs. I could hear my neighbors instantly open their doors and poor Snickers in the other room almost had a heart attack as a result. I was soooooooooooooo happy, still am.

5. Despite this huge burden of stress that’s been suddenly taken off my shoulders, I was still sporting a buzzing head from last night’s dinner at the Sushi Den. I thought a couple of coffee and tons of water would flush it out but I had no luck.

6. Thankfully most of my first period students were away on their MT (school trip) and so I chilled out in the office while I nursed my throbbing head and waited for my next period class.

7. Turns out so many of my last period students not only had watched Snickers’ fight on Saturday but had also read about us in the news.

8. Got offered a chance at a title match, the title being “Korean Flyweight Champion” but with my opponent being the girl I just fought at the end of August and the weigh-in being 51kgs, I rejected the offer.

9. With my head still spinning, I headed off to boxing. I hadn’t been feeling good all day but I was definitely feeling better than the cocky dude who definitely got not only his butt but his pride kicked by Milk Dud in sparring. Good job Milk Dud!!!

10. With Chusok being just around the corner, stores are busy selling gift sets and Snickers has been on my back everyday, asking me what my plans are for it. Tonight Snickers arrived with a special gift set. It was for me and it was from K-Gere. He had bought me a massive box full of various cans of tuna and it was awesome. Thanks K-Gere!!!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
On a scale of 1 to 10, how thankful for life are you?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
God always answers our prayers, but sometimes the answer is no.
