As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Saturday, September 5

1. Started my weekend off by calling Snickers out on his “gogee food” and insisting he get rid of about half of it. Half of it has gone bad and the other half consists of food both him and I don’t even eat.
2. At least once a day Snickers and I sit in the kitchen sipping on coffee and chatting, it’s kind of a routine thing we’ve picked up. It usually ends with one of us putting our head in the lap of the other and ending each sentence with either a smile or an “I love you”.

3. Today’s coffee break however ended with both of us literally rolling around in pain. It seems like everyone has been giving us grapes lately and so we thought it’d be funny to try to throw grapes into each other’s mouth. Actually, I take that back… I don’t really think we had thought too much about it, we just did it, and throwing was more like whipping. I was the first “victim” of today’s “grape play” but I definitely got even when I almost took Snickers’ eye out with a grape and then accidentally made him choke on the one that eventually landed in his mouth. But it didn’t stop there, nope. “Grape play” turned into quite the “food play” when Snickers thought it’d be funny to hug me with a couple of Tupperware full of frozen rice in it. Nice, his sister sends us rice and I ended up getting the morning shock of my life with it.

4. My original plan was to go to Little America and so Snickers decided that while I was out of town that he’d go out of town too… destination: Mother Snickers’ house. “Don’t you dare come back with more food or I’ll bury you in it!” I told him.

5. Snickers is by far the most sensitive and most responsive guy I’ve ever dated and so no sooner did he leave Guum Ggum but then he returned. I had texted him asking why he wasn’t wearing his couple watch and so after he bought his bus ticket he rushed back to see me. What a sweetie I tell ya!!!

6. Junior Mint insisted I come train today and so I trained with Panty Boy Jr. and Black Skinny. They both have fights on the same day as Snickers (September 19th) and so they’re training seven days a week in preparation. Apparently this means I’ll be training seven days a week too as I am the only other one besides Junior Mint that has a key to the club well, that and the fact that Junior Mint insists I have about a month of intensive training to make up for.

7. Despite having just got my hair cut about two weeks ago today I got my hair cut again. I didn’t go to my friend’s salon but instead went to a main stream place and wow, for $10 a shampoo, chop, coffee, and style, I was definitely more than pleased. Got my Japanese style back… very cool.

8. Found a new way to get out of having to tell the story behind my Korean tattoo on my neck by simply saying in Korean “it’s gang related”. Turns out that saying the word “gang” stops people in their tracks with regards to asking more questions. My tattoo however is by far so NOT gang related.

9. Had a movie night with Kitty Cat but before we headed off to Guum Ggum for a movie, we headed over to Coffee Bean for a late night coffee and ended up running into our director there… ended up staying up till about 3am too because of that coffee!!!

10. With too much late night caffine running through my blood and a city practically asleep I took Mi Nam out for a late night jog but when that didn’t work to make me tired, I sat down and studied Korean... till about 5am.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do people still count sheep?

Hi Homegirl!!!,
What do you count?!

Hey Vbuuren,
Yes, I do... maybe I should post a picture. Let me think about it first because it's a bit of a secret from students and coworkers at my work.. for professional reasons.
