2. No sooner did I chow down on my banana protein-packed pancake, being the Pancake Master that I am (hahaha) and hit the sack for my morning nap but then my cell phone went mad with text messages.
3. Page 36 of the sports section, that’s where a massive picture of Snickers and I as well as our story took up half the page. Tons of people ranging from current students to previous coworkers, a former boss, gym buddies, and friends buzzed my phone when they caught sight of Snickers’ and my interview and picture in today’s newspaper. Consequently the question of the day was “When are you getting married?” and the common comment was “congrats on your upcoming wedding”.
Techincally, we took up about 55% of the page... hahaha.
4. Everyone seems to love a good romance story and so our modern day Cinderella story was quite the hit today. Not only did we take up half a page in the newspaper but our story had been sold to various Internet sites, one of which (Naver) our story was listed as one of the most popular for the day. The story revealed a lot about us and even went so far to reveal things like my full name, my Korean name, our ages, the fact that Snickers went to jail, our plans to get married, and even how many kids we want. It was definitely a modern day love story though and I got numerous emails from students and friends, all saying that they were really touched by the story. “Now all of Korea knows our story!” said Snickers proudly. Yes, that’s true… so very true. We’re so “out there” now.
5. Found it rather amusing that people who have never talked to me before and whom I’ve never even have met talked to me today as a result of that newspaper write-up. On my way to boxing I was stopped by two guys at a cell phone story who wanted to ask me about my story. At boxing I was asked at least a couple dozen times from various boxers “When is the date?” (as in the wedding date). Then on my way home from boxing some girls on the street walked by me and whispered my name to each other. My eye glasses store dude who randomly gives me drinking yogurt called me into his shop and asked a bunch of questions. Then there was the Kimbab Lovelies who gave me thumbs up and congratulated me on my plans to get married.
6. So yes… I am getting married.
7. Snickers returned to Guum Ggum today looking like he was in a desperate need of a big bear hug. He had just got into an argument with his coach/manager and threatened to quit boxing if things didn’t change.
8. Not only did Snickers make it out to weight training this morning but he also made it out to boxing with me. I was glad he came out despite he being only one-handed. He stuck to shadow boxing and pounding away at the heavy bag with one hand. But I glad he came out because it gave him the chance to talk to Junior Mint, a coach whom I firmly believe in and have put a lot of my trust in. The two of them talked about sponsors, opportunities else where with his boxing, and future steps he should take while I slaved away beside them.
9. Tomorrow I’ll be starting a new class, a writing level two class, and so I wasn’t really impressed when one of my coworkers failed to give me the textbook. Thankfully Kitty Cat had a copy of the textbook and so I scooted over to her place to pick it up. Tomorrow’s class is full of medical students and so I’ve got my fingers crossed with this bunch.
10. Having made two Power Point lecture files today and today being my day off, I was super exhausted and really could do nothing but veg out for what little was left of the night. Snickers and I curled up on the couch for a movie but fifteen minutes into it I was out like a light.
