1. Like I TOTALLY anticipated, the Wicked Witch of Sambu broke her promise and my bundle of 10,000,000 won failed to arrive in my hands. Even after Snickers met up with her, she still only produced some of my cash and what ended up happening is the two of them got into an argument.
2. In addition to already shilling out mad cash to get the Wicked Witch of Sambu out of my hair, today she stirred up more trouble by accusing me of drilling two holes in one of the cabinets. First of all, I don’t even own a drill and secondly, they were there when I first moved in. She didn’t believe me and insisted I shill out another $150 to replace the cabinet doors.
3. Snickers arrived back at Guum Ggum all stressed out after his argument with the Wicked Witch of Sambu and so I was quick to get stressed out, too. Snickers blurted out quite a couple of colourful worlds in Korean while I stomped around Guum Ggum with gripped fists, looking for something to punch.
4. Made a call to my notorious ex, The Ex. He was with me when I first moved into Sambu and so he would vouch for me. I was sure he’d remember the state Sambu was in when I first got it. The puke I had to scrap off the bathroom floor tiles and toilet, the foot prints of the wall paper, the two holes in the cabinet, the fact that only two of the chandelier light bulbs worked, and the faded parts of the wallpaper that showed where the previous tenant had hung things. After two years of not talking to him, it was definitely a phone call I didn’t want to make, especially with Snickers standing right beside me.
5. The Ex never picked up his phone, which I wasn’t too sure if that was a good thing or not, but whatever.
6. Found something to punch, a pair of boxing pads and one large sand bag. By the time I arrived at my boxing club I was still super ticked about the Wicked Witch of Sambu trying to play me for a fool. Junior Mint listened to me spill my beans about the situation and then he was quick to call me into the ring when he then told me to take it out on the pads. “These pads are her [the Wicked Witch of Sambu] face”, he told me. And let me tell you, I definitely worked in those pads and gave them quite the beating.
7. Today I definitely have to give thanks to God for boxing, not only because it’s what has lead me to Snickers but because it’s what helps to keep me sane and keeps me from literally beating the tar out of people.
8. Gangster Oppa asked me today if I needed his help. “Help for what?” I asked him. He responded by reminding me that if I needed help for anything that he’s only a phone call away. “I know that, but why are you telling me this again?” was my second question. “… with your old landlady”.
8. Snickers labeled all the excessive cash I’ve had to dish out to the Wicked Witch of Sambu as “stress money”, telling me that it’s worth the price to pay if it means we never have to deal with her again. Others, however, have different opinions about the situation. Today Gangster Oppa overheard my conversation with Junior Mint about it all and so he offered to “help” me, whereas S-Line Wanna-Be suggested I take legal action against her, and Panty Boy is insisting I put his education to work. He’s now an underwear model but he was a sports major in university, focusing in on baseball. He played pitcher and so he’s got quite the wicked arm on him that can not only throw a mean curve ball, which is “very useful if you, I don’t know, want to “accidently” break a window” he told me.
9. Despite Snickers having his game weigh-in on Friday at noon, he showed up at Guum Ggum with a pint of Baskin Robins. He knows ice cream always makes me smile and so it was his attempt to cheer me up. The Wicked Witch of Sambu had definitely got to me today and despite pounding away at the boxing club today, I still hadn’t shaken the situation off my mind. Mind ya, the ice cream definitely did help to ease my mind, that is after the “brain freeze” from eating it too fast stopped… hahaha.
10. Indulging in ice cream left both Snickers and I feeling a tad bit guilty and so we decided to go out and actively play with Mi Nam. Snickers insisted I not let Mi Nam off the leash but I always do when it’s just Mi Nam and I. Tonight however, Mi Nam was quite the wild child and dashed away. I went running after him, leaving Snickers yelling at me to put my flip flops back on. I lost sight of Mi Nam though after he veered off the river path and headed towards the shops. I frantically ran around in the streets looking for him and asking random people if they had seen my dog. The thought of him running around late at night and trying to cross the street made me sick to my stomach and so I returned to the path to look for Snickers. Turns out Mi Nam had ran back and Snickers was waiting on the path with his hand gripping Mi Nam by the collar. I felt so relieved to see Mi Nam but boy did Snickers lecture me about not letting Mi Nam loose again. Maybe he was right but you know what, I’ll let him loose again tomorrow night when it’s just Mi Nam and me. Mi Nam loves to run and I love to see him so happy.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What would you do?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Hating people is like burning down your own house to get rid of a rat.
-- Henry Emerson Fosdick
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
