As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Monday, October 26

1. Despite only having to work a grand total of one hour and forty minutes, today I was super busy. I still haven’t finished marking. I’ve completed marking all the midterm exams but I still have the student notebooks haunting me and taunting me.

2. I’d also have writing in all the marks into the attendance sheets if it weren’t for the fact that I do in fact have the world’s best boyfriend, and no, I’m not being bias here…. Hahaha. Snickers willingly volunteered to total up all the marks and then enter in the grades and all I had to do was continually throw him kisses and smiles.

3. Snickers calls it “bait”, I call it “butt-kissing” but what ever it is, it’s hilarious. What I’m talking about here are the writing notebooks of many of my students. Numerous students left surprises for me in their notebooks. Some wrote cute little comments, others went a little further and wrote short letters to me, while others took it a step further and used me as their writing piece focal point.

4. Snickers’ newest phrase is “I’m going to kick their a$$”. This came about after he oversaw one too many “I love you Amy” notes written in students’ books and then jokingly he blurted out “My kick a$$”. “Yes sweetie, you do have a kiss a$$ a$$ but I think you mean ‘I’m going to kick their a$$’… hahaha.”

5. Well, I did it. I poked my head out of my shell tonight and mingled with the foreign crew in my city. I joined a social dinner club on Facebook for foreigners living in Cheonan and tonight’s dinner was the second invite they’ve sent me. I didn’t go to the first one because I did the ever-so-expected get dressed and then bail-out routine. Tonight I did in fact show up though, and it was good. There were about 12 of us girls, and one dude. The dinner party was held at an Indian restaurant and it was delish but now I think I’m hooked on it… hahaha.

6. I always feel somewhat of a foreigner to the foreigners but walking into a restaurant and simply sitting down at the table filled with people I have never met or have even seen was rather nerve-racking at first. By the end of the dinner however, we were deep into girl talk, talking about the differences between Korean men and Western men, and talking about hooking each other up. One girl talked about trying to set some of the girls up with some of her Korean classmates but I joked and tried to sell off my teammates to them… hahaha.

7. I didn’t go to boxing today on account that I was trying to make a point… and when, or if, Junior Mint ever figures out my point, I’m sure he’ll call.

8. Apparently he’s going to need more than a day to figure it out.

9. Last week I had emailed the IFBA (International Female Boxing Association) President. Tonight she called me up. She called me up to talk about the unfair judging in the Lisa Brown fight back on October 15th, a fight that I’m sure even the Korean opponent was shocked by.

10. Ended my night by slaving away again at marking student’s writing notebooks.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Are kisses sufficient pay for him?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday.
