1. Technically I didn’t really go to sleep last night and so when I headed into Hongik for weight training I more or less kind of bounced in. Lack of sleep does that to me, it leaves me super giddy and everything becomes funny to me.
2. Switching things up and doing the stair master was apparently too funny for me and me jumping from foot pedal to foot pedal instead of actually using how it’s suppose to be used, turned out to be not so effective and very ridiculous looking… hahaha.
3. Trained my legs like a beast and definitely felt it.
4. I honestly think I will never get sick of eating my protein-packed banana pancake. Seriously, it’s simply divine and what better way to reward myself for a wicked workout than some definitely worked for, definitely earned, and definitely delish healthy carbs and a whack load of protein?!
5. Leaned on Tang today to help get the whole issue regarding my visa, immigration and boxing through to Junior Mint and all that resulted was me discovering just how thick his head actually is. Dang, talk about frustrations. Junior Mint is convinced that I don’t need to worry about immigration and so I’m still stressed out about it all.
6. Yesterday Junior Mint wasn’t able to meet up with me to talk about the Japan fight proposal and so he told me to meet up with him tonight. Snickers was going to come along with me because he’s considering changing managers. I’m a bit apprehensive about him possibly training at my club but I think Junior Mint definitely has proved to be the more effective coach. He may be as stubborn as a mule and rather thick-headed, but man can that guy push you around at training, kill you on pad work, and then squeeze out that extra bit of energy you have on sand bag work.
7. When Junior Mint called in the early evening and talked to Snickers, he then broke another promise. That’s three promises in two days that he’s broken. I was ticked.
8. Turns out Junior Mint is ticked at me for scoring this fight on my own as supposed to letting him set up a fight for me, but I know how it is. I know how things are at my club. Junior Mint is juggling not only me but Panty Boy Jr., Black Skinny, The Cheonan Bulldog, and a whole whack of amateur boxers that want to set up fights.
9. Snickers tried his best to defend me, after all, it’s not like I wanted to tick Junior Mint off but the fact was that the person I went to for this fight has major connections with promoters in Japan, speaks English and Japanese, but doesn’t speak Korean so him talking to Junior Mint about it would be next to impossible. I love it how he’s ticked at me when it should be me ticked at him. Needless to say though, we were both super ticked and Snickers was ticked at us being ticked. Just a whole lotta ticking going on!!!
10. “If he doesn’t want to stand in my corner in Japan than I’ll have no problem finding a replacement.” Of course I said that out of anger but the fact of the matter is that I have become such a cash-cow for my boxing club and to have him so quickly jump on my head and not celebrate with me on the chance to fight in Japan really hurt. Whether I win or lose in Japan is not the point. The point is that I’m the only other boxer at my club that has traveled to another country for a fight. This is a huge opportunity and a once in a life time chance for me to really take my boxer farther. Sometimes Junior Mint acts so spoiled though and tonight his ego and pride got in the way. When he went off on his little spaz-attack and got ticked off, inside my head I yelled “Oh please... put your ego aside and don't act so spoiled!" It's times like this I wish my mother were here. She'd look him straight in the face and tell him "You're not too old to be spanked!" Okay, so maybe she wouldn't be in my mind I foresaw the situation going down with her yelling it at him and then telling him to say sorry to me. Then, of course, she'd send him to his room to think about it... hahaha. I can laugh about it now but I was super ticked tonight and me being ticked off lasted way into the wee hours. Snickers went off to go clean up his father’s house and whatnot, leaving me seeping in my own ticked-off fumes. I tell ya, it’s times like this I seriously wished I drank!
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What do you do to blow off steam?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Put a grain of boldness into everything you do.
-- Baltasar Gracian
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
