As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Sunday, October 4

1. Me cancelling my much anticipated for plans to go to Seoul yesterday and visiting Snickers instead scored me major bonus points with him but it was really good to see him. It’s always so good to see him. Snickers is always saying to me “mirror – you me same” and by that he’s referring to the idea that I should think before I do things. Basically, it’s the notion that if he were in my situation, what would he do. And so on that note I was all that more convinced that spending time with him at the hospital was exactly where I was supposed to be last night. I knew that if it were me, he’d drop everything and be there for me.

2. Having said that though, maybe coming home this morning around 5am wasn’t the best of ideas because by the time I woke up, it made for a very late start to my day.

3. Currently, I have three different homepages in gear for the three different courses I am teaching at Dankook. Today one of them crashed and so I spent a good chunk of my day basically making a new homepage. Not fun.

4. Bought new boots today. There a pair of super funky, totally Korean, high-high heeled sandy-brown suede boots. Of course my original intention of shopping was to buy knee-high boots but shopping with me never seems to go as planned.

5. My newest dilemma: what to do with my hair. My hair is naturally a sandy brown and I’ve been dying it dark for the past 3-4 years, but I want to go back to my natural colour. At first I had dyed it jet black but now I dye it a dark brown. However, because I train twice a day, showering occurs 2-3 times a day. Homegirl once suggested that I only use conditioner for every-other shower but considering how much I sweat during training, it didn’t really work. Not to mention it also left my hair feeling greasy. My reasoning for wanting to go back light is because it’s super annoying having to dye my hair every 3-4 weeks, it’s killing my hair, and because my roots are so light in colour when they come in it looks like I’m balding (which I am of course not). So ya, it’s super annoying and very frustrating.

My options:
a. continue to colour it dark brown
b. totally chop my hair to get rid of the black ends
c. get a shaggy Japanese cut (again) to get rid of most of the black ends
d. let it grow out
e. wait till I go to Canada this winter to attack the colour
f. let Snickers’ friend the stylish try his best shot at the colour
g. find a new stylist and have them kill the colour

6. I think I’ll go with either option b, c, or g.

7. It was certainly nice to finally have a day off training!!!

8. Back to the hospital I headed. Snickers slept with his head on my lap while I marked student quizzes. Then we switched and I got in a good cat nap while he played with my hair.

9. Cinderella, the non-talking but oh-so-curiously-watching dude that sleeps in the bed next to Snickers in the hospital finally is looking like a normal person should, as supposed to the sleep-all-day zombie-like patient he was this past week. I ran into him in the elevator tonight when I first arrived and he said hi to me for the first time.

10. Returned home to finish planning my lecture PPT for my speaking class. Tomorrow marks the start of week six at school, wow. Time has been flying. Midterms start in two weeks and so that means half the semester will be over with… cool.
