As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Wednesday, October 28

1. Trained legs at morning weight training today. My butt is definitely loving those squats and Snickers is definitely loving those squats too… hahaha.

2. Was told I have a big bum by one of my coworkers, to which I responded with, “Listen, I’ve never had a complaint from any of my boyfriends about my butt!” I guess I should be happy that he said I had a big bum as supposed to “You look like a Chinese boy”.

3. This week’s writing activity in my writing level one class is planning a party. I told them to try to venture away from “safe English” and go for more creative ideas because this week’s writing will be marked according to interest level. Most of the students went with themed birthday parties but one girl decided to go with a lingera party.

4. Just about had it with my medical students when they yet again showed up late after break time but this time they showed up with popsicles and ice cream. It’s one thing if they want to bring a drink to class but I don’t allow ice cream so when they showed up late and with ice cream, I stopped everything. I had them pass around a mini garbage can and one by one they threw their snacks out.
New class rules:
1. After the 10 minute break time, the classroom doors will be locked so if you are not back in the class on time, you will not be allowed back in and you will be marked as absent.
2. Unless you plan on buying snacks for every one else in the classroom, no snacks are allowed.
5. It was a long day at work, not because I had tons of classes to teach, cause I didn’t, but because the two hour break in between my classes really stretches my day out. I used my time though to continue my marking.

6. Last night it was The Biggest Loser finale and I was so stoked about it last night. Snickers however, went out with one of his buddies for a mini birthday celebration, leaving me home alone at Guum Ggum shouting and cheering alone. Today the finale was on repeat on TV and so we watched it together. It’s funny cause I’ve never really watched TV so becoming so into a TV show is definitely not my style. Snickers and I had been rooted for Erik since the start and so seeing him transform and then kick major butt at the finale was awesome!!!

7. With plans to fight in Japan being juggled around and me trying to sort out the detail of it all, tomorrow will start day one of my Japan fight diet. And so on that note, I celebrated today as my last day of “freedom eating” by letting Snickers cook me up some meat and then serving me ice cream.

8. I figure I have about 7kgs (= 15.4lbs) to lose by December 17th’s weigh-in.

9. So how will I lose this much weight… no problem. I’ll be going back to my no carb, low carb, high carb day. A high carb day means three out of my six meals will include a starchy carb (ie. sweet potatoes, tortilla shell, oatmeal). A low carb day means that that two out of my six meals will include a starchy carb. A no carb day meals I will avoid all starchy carbs and instead will have six meals that combine only veggies and protein.
Monday = high carb day
Tuesday = no carb day
Wednesday = low carb day
Thursday = no carb day
Friday = low carb day
Saturday = high carb day
Sunday = no carb day
10. I figure getting down to 50kgs is no problem, I could do that in about a week if I really wanted to, but getting down to under 47kgs for the 47kgs weigh-in is going to be hard. Kitty Cat said it best when she wrote on my Facebook, “You can do it and the sick thing is you will have fun doing it!” and it’s true. I love the challenge.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
How can you change?

Hi Anonymous,
Experts say that it's healthy for the average person to lose about 2lbs a week, so 8 weeks (2 months x 4 weeks per month) x 2lbs a week means that losing 16lbs is okay. So go right ahead and start losing it! If 10-15lbs is your goal for Christmas than go fo it! You have plenty of time to get those kickin' curves for the Christmas mistle toe!!!
As for tips, sure, I'll try to be sure to include some in my postings.

I'm trying to think of what I would eat on a no carb day! I'm currently addicted to oatmeal, tortillas, crackers, sweet potatoes, and apples and bananas all of which have carbs, When I say addicted I mean I eat all those things every day!! So what do you eat on a NO carb day??
