As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Sunday, January 10

1. Not much to do, or could do for that matter, today considering last night’s little wipe-out on the scooter. Ya, Snickers and I looked real “cool” as I performed quite the balancing act. As we turned an icy corner on the scooter, the wheel slipped, off went Snickers off the scooter and somehow I managed to balance the weight of the scooter. Mind ya, balancing a scooter by one wrist that is by no means the average scooter in size meant I killed my wrist. A throbbing wrist meant no basketball playing last night and the pain continued to this morning.

2. By mid-day my wrist was ok… but I made sure I milked the situation and scored a hand massage… hahaha.

3. The other night I introduced Snickers to the wonderful Game of Life (a board game). He squabbled at the notion that we had to marry other people but was happy to announce that his wife was Jennifer Aniston. I, on the other hand, told him I lied to the preacher and actually in fact had my father sitting beside me in my car. My job was entertainer and I racked in $80,000 with each payday. Snickers, on the other hand, was a sales person with a measly $30,000 paycheck. Both of us never had kids and I royally kicked his butt at the game despite him reaching retirement first. “Stick with me babe… I’ll give you the good life!” I blurted out… hahaha.

4. Sunday mornings consist of waking up early on account that the TV is bombarded with boxing galore.

5. Snickers’ favorite boxer is Pac-Man, a Filipino professional boxer commonly known as Manny Pacquiao. We seldom see any live boxing matches on TV, unless they’re happening here in Korea that is, and today’s match was no different. It was a match from last year.

6. Today’s boxing-watching lead to Snickers learning some new phrases.

“You’re special” --> As in you should be wearing a helmet so you don’t hurt yourself you’re that “special”.

“Eye candy” --> I don’t like Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s style but he’s pure eye-candy in the ring.

7. I thought it funny to Google one of the matches and then trick Snickers into placing bets with me on who would win it. He thought I wasn’t really paying attention and so he eagerly agreed to bet. Needless to say, I won the bet and he was then forced to wash dishes.
8. A good chunk of the day was spent curled up on the blanket in the family room. We ate there, watched boxing there, chatted there, and we even studied English there.

9. Snickers studying English, or doing anything for that matter, is never a serious thing and always results in joking. Studying English today consisted of Snickers doing a lot of listen and repeat activities and then him making up silly answers. Today’s lesson focused on welcoming guests into your home and being a guest.
Me: Please make yourself at home.
Snickers: [throws his socks off and motions that he wants to take off his shirt].

Me: Would you like something to drink?
Snickers: Yes, … champagne.
10. As for the rest of the day, what little was left of it after watching boxing and studying English, I spent it cooking up quite the Italian feast for Snickers. I made spaghetti with steamed veggies, seasoned chicken, mozzarella cheese, sausages, extra tomatoes in the sauce, served it with bread, and then followed it with three different flavors of ice cream. It was clean eating up until the dessert part so I let Snickers go to town on that.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What do you want to learn?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
