1. Made my way over to immigration to inquire about what steps I have to take and what prep work I have to do in order to get my F2 visa.
2. On route to immigration, I called my father in Canada. My mom’s back in the hospital with a questionable situation that has left even the doctors and staff have no answers to.
3. Passed the phone to Snickers and he and my father talked for their very first time. I had warned my father that Snickers would be super nervous talking on the phone and that although Snickers’ English has really improved, talking on the phone is a whole different story. Well, like expected, Snickers was super nervous but their conversation went really good. Snickers started by saying “Hello father” and then he giggled through the rest of his sentences. It was really quite cute and I felt proud that the two had talked. I can’t wait till my family meets him because I know they’re going to totally love him!!!
4. I think Snickers’ chat with my dad really pushed him into study mode, so later on in the day we sat down and studied English together. I must say though, Snickers’ English has really improved. He’s like a sponge, picking up random words and really trying hard at making full sentences. He loves learning slang but his favorite word right now is not exactly the word I’d like to admit up to. I never taught it to him. As strange as it sounds, I find it adorable how he messes up his English, how he says “take out lights” instead of “turn off the lights” and how he tends to ignore using verb endings.
5. Tonight I had a foreigner’s dinner party to go to. I was hesitant to go because I’ve never been down with the foreign crowd in Korea, especially not in Cheonan. However, now there’s a lot more foreigners here in Cheonan compared to when I first arrived five years ago. And to tell you the truth, I would have stayed at Ggum Guum had Snickers not convinced me to crack my hard shell and not be such a hermit.
6. So I went. I went to the dinner party, and it was good. I met this hilarious guy, who for the sake of my homepage I’ll refer to him as Side Show Bob. He definitely needed his own show and so it was pretty refreshing to sit beside him and joke the time away.
7. Turns out Side Show Bob is a professor at a local university but he also is a volunteer pastor on Sundays at a local church, a church that by the sounds of it is apparently the church of churches here in Cheonan. With it’s indoor theater, ping-pong machine, indoor basketball court, and numerous massive sanctuaries that seat a couple of thousand each, I definitely am curious to check this place out.
8. Plan is to show up for indoor basketball this Saturday at 7pm.
9. Returned to Ggum Guum with my little doggie bag full of Indian leftovers. Thankfully Snickers isn’t a big fan of Indian food and so I don’t have to worry about him wolfing down my doggie bag delish leftovers.
10. Just think, this time in three weeks I’ll be sitting in Bali a married woman. Today my last package from Victoria Secret showed up and inside it were some special bridal things I bought myself. I bought myself a cute little sweater that has “bride” embroidered on the back and “The soon-to-be Mrs” on the front. I had also got another bikini and so the pressure is definitely on for me to upkeep my current figure. With all those other foreign girl hotties on the beach in Bali, I definitely want Snickers to be the envied man. Call me silly but I want to be the hot wifey on the beach. My teeny-weeny bikini will definitely attract it’s own attention and so now it’s up to me to sport the body that is deserving of it.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What's your "proceed with caution" piece of clothing?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
The finest clothing made is a person's skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.
-- Mark Twain
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
