1. Headed out for a morning run and ended up doing what felt like a half marathon!!! Ran 11.2kms in 5kgs of clothing.
2. Honesty, the thought of going to town on a 6 egg-white, protein-packed cinnamon and banana oatmeal pancake was what kept my legs moving and me from giving up. I’m okay with running long, it use to be my thing back in high school, but I hate running in the sun when I’m wearing excess layers of clothing. I knew I was in for a hard run when I felt myself breaking a sweat during simple stretching.
3. Scooted over to Mouse Doctor’s house today to say hi and was greeted by a very sore half-naked Mouse Doctor. Word has it he got into a brutal fight this morning and won, but by the massive 5inch gash in his back and the apparent bruises around his neck where he was grabbed, I’m not too sure if he won or if anyone did for that matter. Mouse Doctor weighs in at about 60kgs dripping wet and my arms are thicker than his legs, so I told him, “Leave the fighting to us professionals!”
4. In all seriousness though, he really shouldn’t be fighting, after all, that’s what landed him a spot in the big house, just like Snickers.
5. Meet up with one of my Lovely Lady Friends, Lady Bug, for a good chat.
6. Horse-playing at Ggum Guum has officially added a whole new level of injuries. Today I took an accidental knee to my mouth and scored a split lip… ouch. It hurts to smile now.
7. This afternoon the brother of a well-known female celebrity who committed suicide about a year and a half ago killed himself today. Snickers and I were glued to the news channel because of it. Not so long ago the ashes of the sister’s cremated body were stolen, so this followed by the initial suicide and now the suicide of the brother means there is one over devastated mother in Korea today. I was once told that the worst feeling in the world is the lost of your child, this Korean mother lost two. My heart definitely goes out to this particular mother.
8. Had a particular proposal proposed to me today. A photographer in Seoul contacted me to ask me to come in for a photo shoot. It’ll be boxing-inspired but with an added twist for sex appeal. I gasped when he told me the details of his idea, then immediately thought of Snickers having a fit at the idea. He urged me to consider the offer, said he would consider changing the plan if needs be, and then asked if I could come in for a chat.
9. With Black Skinny just days away until he heads off to fight in Japan, Snickers and I went into boxing late tonight so that the two guys could having yet another sparring practice.
10. My unexpectedly long morning run left me treading in the minus energy numbers, so I stood around to watch them spar and then stuck to doing weight training. I did a bit of shadow boxing but there was no pad work or heavy bag work for me today.
QUESTION OF THE DAY…
What’s in your history books?
QUOTE OF THE DAY…
Well behaved women rarely make history.
-- Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
