As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Wednesday, March 24

1. Snickers headed off to Granny-Kim’s house today with K-Gere and I opted out on the day trip. Not too sure on why I did but no sooner did he leave Ggum Guum but I was regretting it.

2. Boredom hit me like a ton of bricks.

3. I eat when I am bored, so I tried everything to distract myself from not giving into boredom and eating.

4. I could have, should have, and would have left the house but laziness, the best friend of boredom but no friend of mine, had also joined me at Ggum Guum. I was way too comfortable wearing a simple long t-shirt and no make-up to leave Ggum Guum. Venturing outside only meant me wondering around downtown bored and then killing time by spending money.

5. Tried to preoccupy myself by planning the wedding dinner party I’ll be having this summer in Canada. Well, one thing led to another and next thing I knew it I was on the phone with the travel agent asking about plane ticket prices and planning places to visit and things to do while in Canada. How weird is it going to be stepping off that plane, turning to my parents and introducing them to my husband for the very first time?!

6. Snickers and I will only be in Canada for just over two weeks but the plan is to have a wedding dinner party with friends, a family BBQ packed with all my relatives, and an at-home home-cooked birthday celebration with my parents and brother. My oldest brother has had another daughter, I’ve yet to meet her, so I am looking forward to seeing her for the first time.

7. Most of all, I really want to see my mom and dad – Mama and Papa Bere.

8. This past year has been extremely hard on my family because of a crazy but miraculously resolved health situation that came and left, all in one year. I’m really curious as to what my mom looks like, now that she’s 63kgs smaller. It’s not a good 63kgs smaller though. My dad wrote me, telling me that long time friends don’t even recognize her anymore. Oddly enough, I’m both eager but scared to see what she looks like. I like the mom I saw two years ago… two years ago, wow. It’s been two years since I’ve seen my family. Like I said, I like the mom I saw two years ago. I am nervous to see the new version of her and be reminded of all the times and life I missed out on.

9. Soooo… not only did boredom and its’ best friend laziness join me at Ggum Guum but so did homesickness.

10. By the time Snickers returned from Granny Kim’s house, I had had enough of homesickness bothering me. He sat on the floor in front of me, pulled me up on his crossed legs, wrapped my legs around his waist, and hugged me. My husband never fails to be the hero when I need a picker-upper.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Who's life do you play the hero role?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Our heroes are people and people are flawed. Don't let that taint the thing you love.
