As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, April 2

1. Despite having just bought a Maxam scooter, Snickers now has his heart set on a car. A certain someone we both know wants to buy us a new car as a wedding gift, which is great and I’m not complaining, but we don’t need a car. Nothing comes for free and, the way I view it, this supposedly ‘free car’ is anything but free – parking fees, car insurance, toting around friends, and needed repairs and maintenance.

2. How brutal am I?!... I thought I’d cut the argument off by blurting out, “Baby or car – pick one!” Snickers picked baby, as expected, so I added “ok, now how exactly do you, a man, expect on getting pregnant considering I can’t?!”

3. Turns out Mouse Doctor’s mysterious ‘other woman’ that he so suddenly started dating just after breaking up with his ex is none other than his actual ex. He revealed this secret to Snickers the other day. We’re not sure as to why he kept it a secret but whatever; I’m glad to hear that they’re back together.

4. Spring is officially here, so today I took full advantage of the beautiful weather and went running around the Dankook lake in ¾ Adidas training pants and a light sweater. Surprisingly enough there weren’t a lot of people walking around the path but there were quite a number of fishermen out.

5. I have a new running partner, or so it seems, and I’m guessing that he’s leaning towards 70. He approached me today when I was stretching for my run outside and we started talking. This wasn't the first time I've seen him, nor the first time I've talked to him, but this was the first time we really talked. Oddly enough he told me quite a lot about himself today and he told me a story that I thought was very personal. He caught me off guard when he called me by my first name even before I had told it to him. He told me that he knows about me from TV and how sometimes he watches me run along the river path. I was a bit thrown off by that last comment he made but figured no harm was meant, after all, his face full of laugh lines made him appear to be nothing short of a sweet man.

6. My jog starts off on the river path but then continues on to the path around the Dankook lake. The older man, Runner Kim as I’ll now refer to him as, only ran with me for a bit as he sticks to doing laps around the river side. When I returned from Dankook, I ran into him again and, yet again, while I stretched we talked. He said he didn’t start jogging until his daughter died. She supposedly was an avid jogger and he took up jogging to see why she loved it so much. I didn’t know what to say in response to that, nor did I know what to say when he said I reminded me of his daughter.

7. Snickers spent his morning over at the boxing club because Junior Mint won’t be back until Sunday, so I joined up with him in the afternoon. We had lunch together and then crashed on the couch for our usual afternoon nap.

8. I thought running into Q the other day at boxing was an infrequent event but, as it would turn out, he’s back to training at our club. And good for him too, I mean, he had a hell of a year last year with his father dying and so a good dose of clean fun and good people is surely exactly what he needs. Not too sure if running into his ex and his ex’s new husband (me and Snickers) is what he needs but both Snickers and I have really tried to be cool about the whole situation.

9. It was cute when Snickers started to use the word ‘crazy’ whenever he wanted to really emphasize something. Instead of saying “I love you so much” or “I’m really hungry”, he’d say “I crazy love you” and “I crazy hungry”. Today he added ‘squared’ to his list of misused vocabulary. When he says ‘squared’ it comes out sounding like ‘scared’, meaning the word ‘squared’ hit two lists, both the list of misused vocabulary and the list of mispronounced vocabulary… hahaha. Anyways, he tries to use the word ‘squared’ like in a math equation – three squared is nine (3x3). Tonight, during the movie, he leaned into me and whispered “I crazy love you forever squared”… hahaha.

10. Snickers has been waiting for the movie “The Clash of the Titans” to come out, so tonight I surprised him with a movie date. I for one could care less about these kind of “I-am-man-hear-me-roar” movies that manly consist of fighting and flexing muscle or heavily special effects movies but it wasn’t so bad. As for Snickers, he was like a horse with blinders on. As soon as his eyes hit the screen there was no distracting him… hahaha.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Listen, can you hear it?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Don't knock the weather. If it didn't change once in a while, nine out of ten people couldn't start a conversation.
