As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Party Time... Friday, October 14

Attended the UP Boxing Club dinner party tonight and quite an impressive turn-out of people showed up. There was an estimated 30-some people but I took my usual spot, sitting close to my coach with Snickers by my side and some sponsors of the club sitting across from me.

Being told to sit at the girls' table by one guy wasn't met with quite a pretty look from me. "Do I look like one of those girls?!" I asked him to which he didn't know how to answer... hahaha. "You're not one of the girls Amy" Snickers added. "You're my woman, so you'll sit beside me".

I hate that, being expected to sit at the girls' table that is and I hate that me being a girl is always made an issue. Like what's the real issue anyways?! The girls' table... what's that? It's like being told to sit at the kids' table in my mind, insulting. And it's not like there's really a girl table anyways. All those who were late to the dinner party just happened to be female so it was fluke that there was a full table of them. I wouldn't know what to talk to them about anyways even if I were to join them.

So I stayed in my seat, surrounded by the guys.

Q was there too -- my ex -- and as uncomfortable as I thought it might be it really wasn't. It's not like we haven't run into him at the boxing club but he and Snickers have never really talked to each other beyond any kind of greeting. Tonight, like always, Q was responsible for collecting the cash from everyone for the bill so I watched as he and Snickers interacted. Q called Snickers "brother" and the two even exchanged a couple of smiles and comments about the meal. It was nice.
