As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Strawberry Sweetness... Wednesday, October 26

My Canada-product Christmas Wish list:

Crest toothpaste
Lip Smackers lip gloss
Trident gum
Reese Pieces Peanut Butter Cups
Oxygen Fitness magazines
Jiffy Pop
Skippy natural peanut butter
small sized whole wheat tortilla shells
Splenda (individual packs)
flavored Splenda (individual packs)
apple cider

Out of all the random things Snickers could have asked me, today he asked me “What do you want for Christmas?” We were walking home from boxing when he posed the question to me. “I don’t need anything” was my initial answer. “Ok… but what do you want?” Hmmm, what do I want, I thought to myself, and then it hit me.

Every year I ask for random Western products that I can’t find here in Korea and every year a package full of little wrapped up gifts containing my wish list arrives in the mail. For six years now, since I’ve moved here to Korea, my package full of little wrapped up Christmas gifts has always arrived, sent by my mom. This will be the first year no package will arrive and though I do miss a short list of Western goodies I often crave, the thought of my mom collecting such things throughout the year for me meant a lot to me. Christmas will never be the same.

When it took me too long to respond to Snickers’ question, he stopped and bent down to look at my face. He could tell something was up. He’s convinced it’s telepathy; the guy can read me like a book.

Next thing I knew it he was swinging me around and jetting into Lotte Super. Down the isle of food we went, over to where they stocked the milk. He ended up settling for strawberry milk after he failed to find what he says he really needed, banana milk.

“You crazy love banana milk. It makes you smile… maybe strawberry milk will too”.

So, sipping on strawberry milk and holding hands, we walked among the downtown crowd. We ignored the fact that we were obviously so sweaty and smelly from boxing, walked on like it was a sweet Sunday afternoon and yes, I smiled.
