For the simple fact that I spent these two days traveling back to Korea and so I had NO concept of time and day, I decided to do only one posting for them.
1. Woke up at 4:45am Monday, got ready, said good-bye to the kitties, and headed towards the airport.
2. Said good-bye to my parents and it was kind of sad because I have no idea of when I'll be back in Canada.
3. Not too sure if they had already known or not but now I suppose it's no secret..... had to take off my jacket at customs in Toronto and, because my back was to them, the last sight my parents had of me was my not-so-bare neck... hmmmm.
4. Scored a window seat on my way to Vancouver and even scored a free lunch courtesy of my seating partner, Lyndia. She was this hot little mama who had a wicked personality and a totally contagious laugh. Thanks for lunch Lyndia!!!
5. Scored another window seat on my second plane ride. Sat beside this Chinese man who definitely was a bad influence on me.... ha, ha, ha...tell ya later!
6. Actually scored a few hours sleep on the flight back to Korea.
7. Occupied my time on the plane with studying my Korean ("Survival Korean"), watching a couple of movies, chatting with Lyndia and then Mr. Hong Kong, getting hit on by one of the male flight attendants (who I thought was gay), and listening to music.
8. Was a bit suspicious of the Korean dude who helped carry my bags once I got off the bus at Yawoori. He was too quick to help me. He walked me to the taxi stand but got mad at me a bit when I refused to let him drive me. I thought I was going to have to wrestle him for my bags. Left the scene and came home to a really cold house... colder than my parents' house in Whitby (ya, it was that cold!) It felt so good to be back in Korea!
9. What a great boyfriend.... Ryan came over and we exchanged Christmas gifts. He had bought me these definitely girly gold heart earrings and I was relieved that he liked all the Canadian things I had got him. He loves Canada, what a banana! Ha, ha, ha.
10. My director kept on calling me but I was too tired to answer and then someone coincidentally came and was fiddling around with my apartment door knob. Did my boss honestly think I didn't get on that plane?! There's nothing in this world I want more than to be here!
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Are you where you want to be?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.
-- Alan Cohen
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
