As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, January 5

1. Hanna still hasn't decided to go to the bathroom without me. She's shell-shocked from that whole fire drill situation.
2. Started a new vocab game with Dream. For every Korean word/phrase I say they have to give me the translation in English. Numbers were too easy and so we omitted them. Final score.... Me 56, Dream class 55! I was really impressed with their English translations as they were impressed with my Korean vocab range.
3. My elementary Glory class was definitely fascinated with my gifts of lip gloss I brought back from Canada for them. Thankfully I was able to remove the "made in Taiwan" labels from them. Ha, ha, ha.
4. Handing out the Canadian groceries was like Christmas all over for some of my coworkers. It was interesting to note just exactly what items they all desired. For Patty it was Advil, Louis wanted deodorant and medicine, for Shannon it was Tim Horton's coffee, and for the truly Canadian Dave, it was not only Tim Horton's coffee but also the taping of "Hockey Night in Canada"! Good stuff.
5. Just when I thought the situation at work couldn't possibly get sillier, found out it has. I will say this though, props to her for finding out how to maintaining her grasp on the "strings" for this long.
6. Never been so optimistic for March as I am today. It really sucks that I'll be losing some incredibly strong members of my working team but am definitely looking forward to losing the loose links and creating stronger ones.
7. Got an email from my university friend Jimmy the Greek. Congrats on the wicked teaching job but Korea is my piece of cake. Grass may not literally be greener here and the sky isn't bluer, but my smile is bigger here and that's good enough for me. Looks like we're both living out our dreams!
8. Stayed late at work just so I could enjoy a cup of Tim Horton's coffee and ya baby, it was worth it. Everyone walking into that staff room definitely enjoyed the fine aroma of Tim Horton coffee!
9. Find out just how out of touch I am with the "foreign community" here in Cheonan. Naomi, my own neighbor who lives across the hall from me got married recently and it took me to read about it on the cheesy Cheonan message board.
10. Voted myself a "Not-so nice girl" for my harsh email about the "Porkchop kid". I'm sure that in some countries calling someone "mee-chein" would be considered cute, like a pet name. Mind you in this country, it's really not considered cute..... at all. Scored an A+ for honesty though!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
If pro is the opposite of con, does that mean progress is the opposite of congress?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Good decisions come from experience, and experience comes from bad decisions.
