1. While walking in the underpass, I walked by this man whom I know from my gym. He helps me with my training sometimes. As I walked by him and his wife I was surprised to realize who his daughter was, my student Sophia. She ran up to me and hugged me. He was definitely surprised at my revealed identity.
2. Ventured out to Seoul to go meet up with Ryan. Did some window shopping and then met up with his friend Kwang Ho.
3. Funniest thing I saw today was seeing Ryan smell the flowers that were on our table at the tea room. I can't remember the last guy I've ever seen smell flowers.
4. Met Ryan's cousin Hyo Hoon and her boyfriend Kwang Chul.... We were sitting in the tea room when in came the cutest little Korean (Hyo Hoon) dressed all in black with striking red shoes that so perfectly matched her vibrant personality.
5. What was originally intended as a day trip turned into an all-nighter cause we were having too much fun. I decided to stay a bit longer but once I missed the last KTX train, I went past the point of no return and so then it really got interesting!
6. Found a Baskin Robins that's open till 3am... this would be dangerous for me if we had one in Cheonan that held the same hours.
7. Well it's no lie... I slept with Ryan. Mind you, I also slept with about 100 other people. Let me explain this one... after getting stuck in Seoul we all went to the 24hr spa where there's designated sleeping areas where people literally lie side by side from wall to wall. Sleeping on the hardwood floor was so uncomfortable.
8. First time visit to a Korean spa (public bath house). I was nervous at first not cause of all the nudity in my section of the spa but because I didn't want to be one of those nudes walking around with people looking at my foreign body. Don't worry mom, the men and women aren't able to see each other naked. No one saw my Polish bum.
9. Changed into a pink spa uniform and stripped my face of all make-up. I think this one of the first times I've ever let a guy see me without any make-up on. I'm not a huge make-up lover but I don't exactly feel comfortable with nothing on. I've got to learn to relax more on this subject.
10. Sent Kwang Chul to go steal us some floor mats cause I was desperately wanting something more comfortable than the hardwood. Scored a few mats and then it was lights out for me.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What do you consider to be your "security blanket"?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Conscience is the inner voice which warns us that someone may be looking.
-- H.L. Mencken
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
