As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of My Day...Friday November 4

1. Funniest thing I've seen today was Wisdom John standing in front of the elevators with his pants around his ankle. I have no idea why he was doing this but thought it humorous when a couple of parents getting out of the elevator were greeted by him. Sure beats the Walmart greeters back in Canada!
2. Jammed 28 overly hyper kindergarten students into a gym and tried to played some organized games. Rule of thumb for this class is when the injury count gets to 3 students, the game is over and we start a new one. Unfortunately for today's class, Minseo's mom had been watching me teach all morning and Minseo got hurt in gym class. I felt awkward but was surprised when her mom praised me for teaching such a tough class.
3. I love it how parents spend a fortune to send their children to my kindergarten class and then pay absolutely no attention to their schooling. My pet peeve is when these same parents sign clearly unfinished homework!
4. Bought a pair of pants that are one size too small, $35. Bought a totally girly Korean styled jacket, $45. Saw the look on Patrick's face when he realized the timetable switch made it impossible for him to miss my class...priceless. He's my "Attitude Boy" from my elementary Leo class who I'm convinced purposely is late for class cause he's downstairs doing my assigned homework.
5. Was on my way home for a break when I realized my elementary Peace class had no teacher present. Was so embarrassed to find out it was I who was suppose to be teaching...they had flipped the schedule. What kind of teacher forgets about their class... red-faced me! I felt so bad.
6. While introducing ourselves to the new student in our elementary Peace class (her name is Joe, so cool) I revealed my age. John asked me if I was getting married next year and I thought it was because he had once met Paulo, here it was because of my age. He said I am getting old and should settle down. Getting old and should settle down?! ...I'm still growing my adult teeth.
7. Always a fun time at training with Young Un. Tonight's joke was with the blood pressure machine. He wanted me to try it out and so as I joke I tried to force my leg into into the arm rest. I'm sure everyone watching was thinking, "What a dumb foreign girl" but that's okay cause Young Un and I were almost crying with laughter!
8. Went a bit overboard by renting 4 movies for tonight's movie night with Ryan. My intentions was very sweet but what was I thinking renting 2 English and 2 Korean...the English have subtitles! Opps. I'm sure the movie store man must think I have no life considering it's a Friday night and I've got 4 of his movies.
9. Nastiest thing of the evening was overhearing some drunken man puke up about a year's worth of vomit. Funny thing was that Ryan and I were trying to guess whether or not he was drunk due to beer or soju based on the truly disgusting sounds he was making.
10. Always am amused at how Ryan has these Korean "talks" with Daewoo. I don't know what he's really saying but when ever Ryan is here Daewoo is such an good boy. Five minutes after Ryan left, Daewoo was back to his old ways and jumping on the bed.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
When does old age kick in?

No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow.
