As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of My Day...Thursday November 3

1. Woke up in Seoul and was totally clueless as to where I was and why my head felt like mush! I had crashed at a friend of a friend's house for the night. Gathered my surroundings, made my way through insane rush hour on the subway, and then scored a ticket on the early morning KTX train back to Cheonan.
2. Role confusion.... I think I'm now the "mouse" but I still have the erge to be the "cat".
3. How come my work desk is always the dumping grounds for my coworkers? Today I found someone's photocopies on it, Jules put her stuff on it, Cookie left spoons on it, and Dave splashed coffee all on it.
4. Koreans using English improperly is as cute and funny as foreigners struggling with Korean. I bought a Korean made shirt today and it read "Super chaos & pritty". At first I thought it said "gritty" but apparently they meant to write "pretty".
5. After weeks of complaing that I need a hair cut, I finally got my hair cut today and what did the stylist do... did she simply blow dry it? No. She went all out and curled my whole head of hair. It looked beautiful but I didn't have the nerve to tell her I was on my way to the gym!
6. Finally ran into Young Un at training. As a friend, I love this guy. He's all jokes and I really missed him. He informed me that my old gym is reopening but I'll stay put where I am cause I've got Young Un back now and so it's all good.
7. Having my good friend Young Un at the gym meant that tonight my label as "the gym freak" got thrown out and replaced with "boxer girl" and that's more than okay with me. He still insists on calling me "good man" though.
8. Not only does my head still feel like mush cause of last night's blows to the head (boxing training) but I am once again the "cat".
Like Ryan says, it's all about the "double p"... patience and persistence. I've got the persistence and that's why I'm a good "cat" but with patience I'd be able to be an even better "mouse".
9. Ryan's English lesson for the day was on the word "tease". The lesson was intended for him but I ended up learning a harder lesson because of it and ended up going on a trip downtown at 2am to make corrections.
10. Scare of the year was tonight when I finally got in after 3am and some huge Korean man walking down my street came into my apartment building with me. I thought for sure I was being followed and so I was totally getting ready to have to fight. Fortunetly he continued up to the next floor but I was shaking with massive adrenaline!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What's one thing you just don't understand but are forced to accept?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Half of what people joke about is the truth.

My answer to your QUESTION OF THE DAY:
You being in Korea and wanting to stay longer.
Why? You had such a fun life in Toronto but don't you miss all that. You left a lot!

I know that I had such a fun life in Toronto but looking back at it, it was too much. I was spreading myself out too thin among my friends and never really got to do what I really wanted to do.
My life here is a lot more simple but also a lot happier cause I'm doing what I want to do.
My move here really taught me a lot about those I call friends...where are they all? I rather have a few really good sound friends than mere "associates".

You've always have been more mature than your years.
I totally support you Amy. I remember what you once told me about regarding friendship and but I am sad that you had to learn it that harshly.
As for your 'fun life' you left behind in Toronto, forget about it. Times are changing, you are changing and I'm glad to see you're looking after yourself.
I miss you.
