1. Back to work… but at my new job, in Asan! I enjoyed having the past 5 days off but am eager to jump into this new position. I’m no longer “Amy Teacher” instead, I am “Ms. B”. I have a great feeling about this one!!!
2. Arrived to school in style in Science Man’s new car. He’ll be my ride to school everyday. Super sweet! The Phys. Ed teacher drove me home but I prefer the Science Man because at least he doesn’t speak fast non-stop Korean… Science Man just giggles.
3. Met 78 of my students today and had a fun time trying to think of English names for them all. I even resorted to making up new English names! Truth is, If I know you, I probably named some student after you today!
4. Word has it that Tony in my 2-1 class is in love with me. I walked into the class thinking they knew very limited English and this little guy yelled at me, “Teacher I love you… you beautiful!” Spent the rest of the class trying to avoid his seating area but he was quite persistant in shuffling his chair to be closer to me.
5. In that same class, 2-1, Timmy and his little side kicks in the corner were completely distracting and so I pretended to throw my shoe at him… boy did that ever get his attention.
6. Was a big hit among the curious students who repeatedly peeked into the teacher’s room to sneak a peek at me. Got called “beautiful” by the boys and “so funny” by the girls.
7. Looks like almost all my students have cell phones. Ended up giving my number to a few eager girls and even received a text message from one. I’m not too sure if this was a good move or not.
8. Finished my classes and it felt like I hadn’t even started. What… no more mutiple classes one after another? Four classes a day is sweet to me… it’s less than half the work load I had at SLP! So, after having such an amazing and refreshing day at my new job I celebrated with a bubble bath and ice cream.
9. Revenge is sweet. You hide my shoes eh?!…Ha, ha, ha, but did you see my new lamp fixture? Ha, ha, ha!!! Funny boy…. funnier girl!
10. Oh my gosh… totally didn’t mean to burn a hole in your ugly yellowish-GRAY shorts Ryan! They went from ugly to uglier with you mixing your laundry wash and now they went from uglier to ugliest with the burst hole in the leg. Too funny! It’s official… they’re dead and fit for the trash can!
QUESTION OF THE DAY…
How the heck do you work this myspace thing-a-ma-jig?
QUOTE OF THE DAY…
“Ms. B likes Tony the tiger, tiger strong yes… so, me like Tony the tiger. Me Tony so Ms. B like me… Yes!”
-- Tony, Eumbong Middle School Student
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
